if they played a top 25 schedule, they would deserve to be in a NC game. Not playing just 2 teams. They are good, no question there.

It's like saying a fan base is classless after they kick your ***. It's all you've got. Same with blaming the stripes. Surely "your team" couldn't just lose. It must have been a fix, a conspiracy, cheating.....

Why any BCS team would play Boise St. in the regular season is beyond me. You beat them and everyone says you did what you were supposed to do. You lose, and you have to deal with it on ESPNand in the mediafor the rest of the week about how Boise deserves credit, and is Virginia Tech really that good of a team. Boise always plays up, and Peterson is a fantastic coach. I've always said it's not about getting the best players, it's about getting the right players for the system you run. Peterson has done that at Boise, and it showed tonight.

There are a number of SEC/Big Ten/Big Twelve/Pac 10 teams that could beat Virginia Tech. The difference in beating 1 or 2 great teams a year and playing great teams every week is huge. Injuries, fatigue, and the ability to "get up" for the big games are the reason Boise doesn't deserve a shot at the title YET. Ask yourself what would have happened if Boise played Alabama's schedule last year.

....if they were an SEC team, they'd have to prove themselves about 8 times per year.

I still don't think they are #5 team. They are good but let's see them line up this Saturday and playAuburnthen the next week play LSU and then the next Saturday play Georgia. Hell I heard several time last week that VT is the most over rated team in college, if true they almost lost to a over rated team.

but they did get two HUGE calls in their favor.. first they picked up the flag on the block in the back on the punt return.. whether you hit a guy in the back at an angle or straight on, it's still a block in the back... that saved them 20-30 yards of field position. Even more dubious was the personal foul.. the guy stepped out of bounds, kept running then he was AT MOST a half yard out of bounds when the guy tackled him (and it wasn't even a vicious hit)

There is no doubt they are legitimately good. I don't think anyone would argue that since the Oklahoma game.

There is a huge difference between being legitimately good and playing for a national championship.

deserves to play in the NC game.

How many teams from the six major conferences would jump at the chance to only play Virginia Tech and Oregon State for a chance at the national championship?

Well coached, had number of chances to knock VT out of the game but they didn't. Did not step up on defence in second half. Good team but not BCS Championship game quality.

...would solve every concern addressed here, as well as the concerns of those who questioned Ole Miss in the Cotton Bowl after they were completely destroyed in the Egg Bowl. The truth is, we just don't know how good Boise State is. And we never will.
