He has had 18 attempts for a total of 90 yards and 1 TD this season. That is an average of 5 yards per carry.

Memphis:
3 attempts for 5 yards, 1.7 yards per carry

Auburn:
11 attempts for 78 yards, 7.1 yards per carry. 1 TD

LSU:
4 attempts for 7 yards, 1.8 yards per carry.

Was surprised to see that he had a pretty strong game against Auburn, I did not remember him getting that many touches and running that well against Auburn.

so it really wasn't that spread out. He definitely deserves credit for that run but take out that one big play and he was 10 carries for 38 or so yards in the Auburn game. I have been a little disappointed so far this year because I had high hopes for him this season. It is still too early to tell though. I mean LSU really nullifies his speed so he was not a great option over Vick Ballard at running back. Would have liked to see a slip screen or something against that aggressive defense with Perkins but I'm just Joe Footballfan, not getting paid well to muster 6 yards of offense in the second half outside of trash time.

I hope he gets to show his abilities as the year goes on. But I do agree with another poster that he just seems really lackluster on kickoff returns. It is like he is running at 3/4 speed looking for a seam but never seems to find it and hit the jets. I just wish he would run full speed and hit the seam if its there or take the hit if it is not. He may be trying to do that but he just seems a few steps faster when he sees daylight on offense.

Rather than being disappointed in Perk, how about be disappointed in an OC who hasn't put the ball in the hands of a guy giving you a 1st down every 2 1/2 carrys?

all I said was that it was a little disappointing that he hasn't been as much of a factor as I thought he would be. His performance has not been bad. Just less of a factor than I thought he would be. Of course I think the guy calling plays needs to be reevaluated. He has blown hard this year. As I said I would have loved to see a slip screen or two to Perkins and give him a chance instead of a stretch play against defenders that are just as fast as he is.

He can definitely be utilized better than he has been thus far this year. Where are the wheel routes? I saw Ballard catch one or two but that is about it.

I don't get paid to make the calls but I am pretty sure that I could learn to call short passes or a screen or two to slow that rush down last night. Running it up the middle and then calling 6 second developing play action passes isn't cutting it. Just seems like someone, I assume Koenning, is in over his head. I mean sometimes the play calling is great but then the offense disappears for 2-3 quarters at a time. People look at Auburn and some say wow we had over 500 yards. We should have had over 700 if they had leaned on what was working and that was Ballard and Perkins on the read option, and just plain ole speed option respectively. Instead he tried to get cute for a while and all of a sudden start throwing the ball downfield which led to several stalled drives.
