It is a voluntary organization isn't it? What is to stop the new "Power Conferences" from starting their own organization and enforce or not as they see fit. <17> the NCAA.

Of course they have a choice. They choose to involve themselves. And their choice is based on nothing more than keeping their base happy.

Orrin Hatch is the head of that Antitrust committee(dont remember, dont care enough to google) and a Senator from Utah.
No coincidence he is from a state with BYU and Utah and he has been looking into if the BCS is or isnt Kosher for over a year now. 2 big programs in his state that have both been left out of the BCS and he is investigating the legitimacy of the BCS.
Im sure it is all because he really cares, and not at all because he is a ***** who is leading this cause because his voters and state's schools are negatively affected.
If BYU and Utah were both in the BCS, would he really give this much of a damn, or any damn at all?

And now Grassley from Iowa is being a dbag and saying that he will do anything he can to keep Iowa State from being left out of a major conference. He said they will have to look (further) into Anti-trust issues and also the legitimacy of athletic donations being tax free for the university.
F Grassley!
He isnt doing this because it is just and right, he is doing it because he is a ***** that is using his power in a way it shouldnt be used.

Congress is already involved.

I suspect MSU will be getting the axe in the next round of consolidation. We have 10-15 years to ensure that doesn't happen (barring some of that evil gummit involvement).
