How much are we missing Phil Turner?

Would we have a different record right now with Phil on the team?<div>
</div><div>I wish we would have giving Riek a medical hardshipscholarship, put him onpermanentIR and kept Phil around for his senior year. He provided energy, spunk, heart, and TONS of effort and defensive ability. And he'd knock down a halfcourt three every few games.

I think we miss him more than Stans will ever admit. Especially since Dee is sitting out so much.</div>

Sure we could use Phil but obviously Stansbury thought he was being disruptive to the team. Whether that was true or not I don't know but Turner getting suspended at Delta State kind of adds some validity to that. Sometimes the off the court stuff outweighs the on the court stuff.
I hate to say that because Turner was one of my favorites prior to last year.

Sooner or later Stans has to recruiting these yahoos. I don't know, that maybe all there is out there. But the attitudes are horrible. Basketball in general I think is declining. Either way, in the end if Stans wins games I'm not gonna care.

Ravern skipping practice last year because he was mad at Stans. Or disruptive like Dee having to sit out half a season because he refused to answer calls and texts from coaches. Or maybe disruptive like Ravern deciding not to go to class this year. Or maybe it was disruptive like Kodi calling out Stans for losing to Rider last year. This whole 17'n program is a disruption.

Good point. Like I said, I don't know exactly what Turner did to piss off Stansbury but I do remember Phil yelling back at Stansbury during a timeout in a game last year and you could tell that things were not well between the two. No matter how bad the coach pisses you off you can't have that stuff. Skipping class is one thing and disrepecting the coach is another. I was shocked that Kodi didn't get kicked off the team after his episode last season. To his credit he has learned to keep his hole shut.

Those guys are disruptive because they're terribly self-centered. They don't care if anyone sides with them on an issue, and quite frankly I think all the other guys aren't going to be influenced by them. Phil, on the other hand, fancied himself a leader and I would be willing to bet that he tried to convince others of his views and that he basically tried to create mutiny. Combine that with his seniority to everyone else, and I could see the coaching staff being much more concerned with disruption from him.

This doesn't excuse the others in the least, but it could be a reasonable explanation for why we put up with the others and didn't put up with Phil.

and apparently this got under Rick's skin. Phil's fiery attitude while making him a sparkplug on the court appeared to irritate Rick off the court. Now as most have seen guys like Jamont and Dee simply ignore Rick while he's coaching during timeouts but apparently its OK to do that.

Phil plays like he's a glue guy. He always seemed to have as much or more energy than everybody else, and other than some ill advised three's, pretty much played the game the right way. Don't know who the blame falls on, but it seems like it coulc be real trouble when a guy like that doesn't respect the coach (which I don't think Phil did).

If it weren't for the fact that Stans always has problems with players, I wouldn't bat an eye at Kodi and Ravern's issues and would pin all the blame on them being selfish/head cases. When someone that plays like Phil has issues with the coach, I'm much more open to thinking the coach is not handling his players. I assume other players, especially the younger ones, are the same way or similar. </p>
