If you look at people like Bama, they are paying Kirby Smart 750k a year. I think that we can pay the head coach but the problem will be being able to afford to pay the ones under him.
It's hard to know how much we could pay the guy. The fact is, he's brought in a lot of interest in the program that hadn't been there recently and money follows. You know that Starkville, the GTR area and MSU in particular have benefitted financially from what Mullen has done so far. There are people with money that might be willing to put up some cash if they like what he's doing. The school itself is not going to pony up a lot of cash but if Leo Seal, George Bryan, Miskelly's and some of the other deep pockets want something and are willing to put up the cash, then that could happen.
That said, I don't think he should get 6 million but I do think he deserves as much or more than Croom. If he were to win 1 or 2 national championships then let's talk about Saban money. But right now, he's only gotten us bowl eligible.

I think he should get bumped to 2 million. If he goes 9-3, a little more. If he comes to us with another job offer, then go to 2.5 to 2.75. If he wants more than that - you have to think about letting him go.

Just to add on, who says we don't earn our share of the SEC revenue? We put a team on the field. Our players play in the games. We play by the same conference rules everyone else does. I know Bama fans think the entire country would tune in to watch y'all practice, but it takes two teams to play a game.

Until we get consistent in going to bowls and find ways to generate more revenue likeexpandingthe stadium so we can bring in more money, we will continue to have this problem.6 to 8 wins a year for the next few years we have Mullen will really help us out. We need to get to bowl games and get the extramonetary perks that come with with it on a consistent basis.

I agree with the 2-3 million range as being a good target for Mullen and MSU. I wouldn't pay him 6 million but I'm ust saying that he has brought in some money that has been on the sidelines recently and if the right people wanted to pay him 6 million, there are enough big money people that could make it happen.
but if mullen stays committed to the bulldogs, gets them 9 or 10 wins per year, and coaches salaries continue to skyrocket, would it be that farfetched to pay that, say, 5-10 years from now....

Dan Mullen. I don't know what his goals are. I do feel for whatever reason that money won't be the main motivator whether he stays or goes, or however long he stays. I do believe that he will be in a position within a year or so to be pretty selective about where he wants to go, or whether he wants to stay, and the money will be there. His ego may be bigger than money, it may mean that he wants to be at a place where he has a legitimate chance to win the whole thing, it may not even be in the SEC.
