How much does State winning it all mean to you?

If Bill Gates came to you with his checkbook and said, "I can give you nothing and State will win it all and be the first 15-0 National Champion in college football history, OR I can write you a check and State will end up a respectable, albeit disappointing, 10-2."

What would you say, and what's the minimum amount you would require if you choose the check?

MSU winning a championship doesn't materially change my life.

Bill Gates could. I can be bought. Probably just for paying off my house. That either makes me a terrible a fan or a smart husband and dad. Possibly both? I'm cool with that.

I bleed maroon and white, but if he'd pay off my student loans and my mortgage, I'd buy my own Peach Bowl tickets.

I'd do it for $5 million and have no regrets about it. As cool as it would be to go 15-0, MSU going 15-0 or 0-12 in a season doesn't make all that much difference in the life of my family other than what I do on Saturdays in fall. And with that kind of cash in my pocket, I could easily buy club level tickets for the rest of my life.

Now for a twist on the question: How much would you do it for IF it was publicly disclosed later that you made such a deal?

I guess the real question is what is your lowest price?

$10,000?
$100,000?
$1,000,000?

It would probably take about $50,000 to get me on board.

In the words of The Million Dollar Man: "Everybody's got a price!!!"

I don't know how much some of you people make but MSU football has never paid my bills. Give me a few thousand and I'll take 10-2. My life consist of family, faith, football and fishing but money is money.

Couple thousand wouldn't cut it for me. I've probably spent that much alone over a span of 20 some odd years in merchandise, tickets, and trips to Starkville.

Enough to pay of the mortgage on the house and rentals and to fully fund the kids college funds. Maybe throw in enough cash to buy decent used cars for the kids when they can drive. Heck, enough to do any ONE of those things and I would probably take it.

Bill Gates opens his checkbook and you only ask for $100k? You've lost your mind. $10,000,000 minimum before we could even talk about it.

Play the long game fellas... 7 figures...***

1 Cam won an otherwise mediocre Auburn team a national championship.

4 Cams would be a team of world beaters... Plus, you'd pocket a cool $200K...

I'll take a check for $10MM and then become the sneaky bastard booster that buys a national champion by 2016 and still have money for the mortgage and cars.

I'd be laughing inside as I told him $100m because I am a Mississippi State fan... Meaning there isn't much out there in our history to make me believe we wouldn't be 10-2 anyway. I would be thinking Gates is a complete dumbass and take his money.

After we ended up 10-2, I maybe would consider that he had the power to make us 15-0. It would only be a passing thought though. My new lodge on 20k acres of hunting ground in KS would be preoccupying all other brain matter.

MSU is a big part of my life, but it's not the biggest part of my life. I'd take the money and enjoy my New Years in Orlando.

There's nothing in this world that is out of your price range that you would love to have? Nothing? Do you not have family that X dollars could help? Bull. ****.

It seems realistic people are making practical calls on taking about $20-40,000 and 10-2. Let me throw a curveball: What would your price be (if any) for State to be 10-2 and Ole Miss win the national title? I'm thinking that should amplify everyone's numbers by at least a factor of 10.

I've been waiting all my adult life, over 50 years, for a season like this. Going undefeated for me would be priceless!

$10,000 - No.
$25,000 - Doubt it.
$50,000 - Probably.
$100,000 - Sorry guys.
Not me. A 100K I can earn, a national championship I can't. Hell after 30 years of this, I've probably got more than that invested in a hope and a maroon dream.
