How much if any do we open it up this weekend?

I think we see a much bigger dose of Bumphis and Heavens on screens and quick hits. I also think Carr makes a big catch at some point in the game. I am all for sticking with what has worked all year, and just trying to pound the ball, but I have a feeling the offense is going to look a little different Saturday.<div>

I think we see Carr, Heavens, Perkins more on sweeps or reverse type stuff. Trickeration that does not require down field passing. I think we only start passing if we just have to.

I think you are right with the screens. Bumphis is good with the ball in the open field. Give him a chance to make some plays, as well as Heavens. Quick bubble screens, end arounds, things like that. I think we have the personnel to go at Bama just like LSU did. Run effectively, complete some passes in 3 and 4-9 yards, waste a lot of clock, and play clutch defense. We can do all of those things, but most importantlyif we can complete the passes for 1st down, we are in really good position to steal this game.

I'll answer with a question. Is there any reason we won't be able to run the ball against Bama as well as we did against Florida? Florida is 5th in the SEC in rushing defense. Bama is 7th.

pound the ball, but complete some deep passes to keep the safeties from crowding the line. Don't be afraid to gamble - one thing we didn't do vs. UF. Both Bama losses occurred to coaches who like to take chances.

we are going to keep it run heavy as we should. I just think with the extra week of prep, we loosen it up and substitute some of the runs with short passing.<div>
</div><div>I heard David Pollack on the radio today say we are completing 7 passes per game. I'm sure not complaining at 7-2, but I thought that was a crazy stat.</div>

I gotcha.

If we can throw successfully, I'll love it. It is so nice to watch us run a balanced offense. But if you tell me we only throw 5 times and beat Bama, I'll take that.

Thats because Mumphis has gotten a serious case of "can't catch shut" lately. Hopefully that has been addressed and corrected.
