How much longer does Florida keep Mullen?

Nah….he’ll ride it out. It’s a catch-22 where no one he’d consider an upgrade would take him if he actually gets on the hot seat there.

I predict that he will turn the offense over to AR15 and things will improve by the end of the year. He will realize that is what needs to happen in another game or two. He just has so much invested in Emory that its clouding his judgment.

They expect to win the SEC and be in the playoffs. This is his 4th season. He pretty much have his guys in place. No excuses. If he has a few more bad loses this season he might be gone this year. I think finish off good this season he will get one more.

They are stuck with him. He's their Mark Richt. He's going to average close to 10 wins per season. You don't fire a coach like that unless you know who you will hire as his replacement. Right now there are no young coaches that would definitely be an upgrade.

The best they can hope for is to pressure him to break up the country club offensive staff.

9-3, win a bowl outback/citrus bowl, 10-3. Like someone said, he’ll be their Richt. I could also see him getting the USC job or Franklin leaving for it and him getting the PSU job.
I also wouldn’t be shocked if Bill O’Brien gets one of those jobs if there some shuffling between USC, PSU, UF.

Mullen’s biggest problems are dorking up a couple of games a year that he has no business losing and being extraordinarily unlikeable. (The big grin on his face after the loss as he went to shake Stoops’s hand says it all and drives fans crazy.) He is a competent coach no doubt—just not an elite coach by any standard.

He’d built things up too much for that Bama game. There was no way he’d keep the team & himself focused after that.

For sure this season and next season if things went really bad, however I think Dan is a great coach and he'll be at UF for a long time unless he bolts for the NFL or can get the Penn St job.

The Richardson guy he has as a runner/situational QB looks to be his next stud at QB.

I just got through watching that game and to be honest, Kentucky is nothing offensively. Their defense is all they have. Mullen is a prick as a person and a good to decent coach. I told a good Florida friend of mine when they hired him, you are going to be disappointed in the end. He’s going to get you excited about football and screw something up every year. I loved watching that game. I don’t know their schedule but I wouldnt be surprised if they ended the season with four regular season losses.

There’s a big gap between competent and elite. He’s much better than competent. He’s really good. But as you said, he’s not elite. He’s capable of being elite. He’d need to learn to delegate some and also put winning over some friendships. I’m not sure his personality will let him be elite though.

He needs to go 9-3 to avoid his seat getting hotter this year. He's going to lose to UGA, so he has to run the table otherwise. But he has Vandy, LSU, USCe, Samford, @Mizzou, and FLorida State. They should be comfortably favored in all those games. Losing to UGA and Bama this year along with a road loss to UK where they look unprepared is not a terrible year. Don't think anybody at UF is going to be happy with that, but I think it keeps the status quo for him as far as how hot his seat is. If he drops another one to go 8-4, that will mean he followed up a no show in a NY6 bowl game with terrible comments, and then had two games where his team wasn't prepared in 2021, along with smiling after one of them. They are going to be pissed at that point and he will need to have a good year in 2022.
