How much NIL did Louisville spend

Supposedly a few nights out on the town and about eight large Dominos pizzas.

I have 2 friends that work in the KY athletic department and they both say it's BS on the 22 mil. We will never know for sure though but 22 mil. LOl
Of course it’s BS! I’ve been screaming it from the rooftops since it was first stated. Also, just like I said awhile back, this whole 22 million in NIL nonsense will be used against us all season! And here we are!

Yes, anyone with 2 brain cells on active duty can see this! It’s actually going to hurt UK in recruiting because recruits are going to expect UK to pay more unfortunately.

Mitch should have squashed that as soon as it was published!

The better question is what’s up with the obsession over NIL spend? It doesn’t matter who spent what and for who.

Now getting the right pieces and some top talent is absolutely important sure but that doesn’t always equate to winning. When Cal was here we had the most talent numerous times and didn’t win. The top spending professional teams rarely win, so why the obsession over it? Sure if we spent the most 5+ years and had poor results then there can be a discussion of why we aren’t winning. We are 3 games into the 2nd year NIL has been a big thing. Let’s pump the brakes and stay in our lane until we know factual information and a good sample size of results.

This kind of response is what gives all of the Kentucky Fan base a bad name. It is a good question. It proves a point that it is not all about NIL money. When Rick was the Coach, he had the ability to take good basketball players and develop them and put them in a position to do great things. Example, Pelphery, Feldhause, Woods, Shepard, Mohammed, Padgett, etc...

IIRC, we were still actively recruiting Brown when Acaden Lewis committed. So obviously that was a mistake on Pope’s part. But at the same time, you can’t wait around for a kid to commit and then be left with nothing. The real head scratcher is, if you knew Lewis wasn’t fit to be the PG and you needed to recruit over him with a guy like Lowe, then why even offer Lewis at all?

I do feel that we all need to give Pope a bit of grace when it comes to one and done players, for the simple fact that this fanbase got SO TIRED of them over the last decade, and not winning a damn thing, that you can’t really blame him for prioritizing the portal guys these first couple years. But again, I feel the Lewis recruitment was kind of wasted time. If Pope and his staff thought Lewis was on Brown’s level, then well, that was clearly an inaccurate evaluation.

I'd estimate about $18mil which probably puts us #1 but not by a huge margin.

You do realize that nobody on this board bothers to read all the 976483219546 after the “Anon” part, right? So essentially, you are all just lumped into one big troll category. If any of you want to be taken seriously, at least pick a real username. Otherwise, go on ahead and take TrueBluePhil’s advice.
well i was subscribed to ksr+ but i got banned after saying i hope the recruiting gets better

Brown is an Adidas guy so UK never really had a chance. I think Pope always wanted a veteran starter at point and at the time Lewis and his dad both seemed fine with it and talked openly about knowing it would take time for him to start. Then months later they totally changed their tune and wanted him to start now so off to Nova he went.

The midget is proving to be a better recruiter and he out-coached Pope pretty bad Tuesday night!

I do agree that he out-coached Pope, but a couple things here:

#1. are we to forget that Pope made the sweet 16 last year while the midget got DRUBBED in what was basically a home ncaa tournament first round game? Talk about what have you done for me lately.

#2. there’s all kinds of trolls on here talking about how we need a bonafide lotto pick on this team, “like UL has”. Well, we do have one. His name is Jaden Quaintance and he didn’t play against Louisville.

you can’t bash pope’s recruiting whilst completely ignoring the fact that Kelsey’s roster was at full strength and ours wasn’t. And that’s not to mention Noah who has the potential to be our best shooter, didn’t have him available either. So can we cool our jets a little on the Pat Kelsey hyperbole please?

I want to recruit Collins and one of Stoke/Holt, then try to recruit one top portal PG/Rippey if Lowe does not work. We need Brown type player to facilitate our offense. Brown himself elevates the whole team

lol, okay… Tell me one professional team, IN ANY SPORT, that has the highest payroll, who doesn’t have at least one (or more) bona fide superstars!

Go ahead, take your time… And best of luck with that one 🤣😂🤣

He did not look like a Stud against Kansas. 2 for 15 from the field. I think we had a lot to do with Brown looking like a Stud. We have to learn how to defend a ball screen and keep the ball handler out of the paint.
Well, I’m not a Jayhawk fan, so point dismissed!

Besides, anyone who has a MCBB IQ of over 75 can see that Brown is a superstar in the making. Go gaslight somewhere else please.

Just because we can’t be outspent if we don’t want to be, doesn’t mean we are. Kentucky has to be careful how they navigate the payouts. Agents and handlers know Kentucky is a high demand program. They are going to use it to max us out. It’s simple business. You have to carefully navigate this if you’re Kentucky.

They know we are a high demand fanbase. They know we short football to pay more in basketball. They are going to try and get us to pay more for sure. We will not sustain that model if it’s happening long term.

In the end, Kentucky is going to have to pay a lot of money. They need to get used to it. But we’ve got the worst AD you could have for this kind of era. He’s always lagging behind, always resisting, and isn’t close to win at all cost. We’ve got a fudd who probably supports water gun control legislation as an AD of an SEC PROGRAM.

If Brown were out hurt, the game were in Rupp, and JQ played, we would have won by 20. They still have a better roster?
I did not disagree

But still our roster seems to be a lot overpaid than theirs....

Not sure how much Louisville spend, just gut feeling

Do think Conwell/Brown are cheaper than Oweh/Lowe

I’m just really disappointed in Pope’s coaching in this particular game. He made zero adjustments until late in the game and had 3 non shooters on the court together for way too long. Our players were not ready!
Coached scared waiting until late to try Kam.
It was honestly like watching a Cal coached team.
I’ll be in NY to watch them on Tuesday!
I hope he makes some adjustments because Izzo definitely will.
UK isn’t t the job to learn on the fly.

Yes, he seemed like he was beaten already in the game, looking very Caliapri

No one knows how much players on any team are getting for NIL.

Some of the figures thrown around are ridiculous, and nothing but speculation.

Kentucky players aren’t getting $22 million dollars. That’s a total preposterous and made up number.

The cap for a school is $21 million. I’m pretty sure the football players are getting a chunk of this $21 million.

Just shut the GD program down if the BB team is getting $22 million. College sports doesn’t even exist anymore. It’s all become a complete joke.
