No I am not talking about some of our rivals, the two biggest if you can call them rivalries now, stretching every rule to the max, from the coaches (two adulterers, an abortionist, and the biggest recruiting cheater ever plus benefits like Minden Hall) they employ to the "orange pride" to the thugs that get away with murder (well, attempted murder would have been the appropriate charge, instead of NOTHING) that leads them to think they can get away with rape as well.

No, turns out they aren't that stupid after all with the incompetent NCAA in charge.

I am talking about athletic departments (Or schools) that allow discrepancies like this to happen, and the University of Kentucky is famous for taking that approach for football historically:

http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-football/average-2015-16-cost-attendance-every-sec-school/

According to the articles Lexington is right smack dab in the middle of the most expensive schools in the nation to attend, Cincinatti less than a hundred to the north, Louisville less than a hundred to the west, and Knoxville a couple hundred to the south, Cincy the highest in the nation and the other two among the top ten and yet UK is among the cheapest school anywhere to attend. Try to figure that one out, that is if you don't believe our Rivals just take every advantage of every situation they can to gain an advantage. And the cheating and thuggery is soon forgotten (by most), just win baby.

Doesn't matter my butt, if we don't talk about it maybe they will forget, good luck, the other coaches sure won't forget.

A lot of these players came up in poor families, some of them want to do something for their families sooner than later (although Bridgewater was so close to his poor single mother that he chose a college a thousand miles away instead of across town, but, happy ending, she seemed to magically make every game) and this "spending money" is a big deal to a lot of them. Maybe not to our new QB commit, don't know, but maybe a whole lot to some of the big time players he has become close to in the camps.

No, the stupid people are the ones at UK that will let this drag down our "money cow" again just when it was showing real promise of going places (maybe a SECOND five star OL AND a possible five star QUARTERBACK as soon as NEXT year) finally, an amazing turnaround in talent. This is a CRITICAL point in our recruiting, GREAT promise if we can close the deal on this class.

And yes, I have to include Stoops and the coaches in the group of being stupid about an item this article says will cost an average of a million a year per school, didn't Brooks donate part of his salary to keep Joker on as his OC? How about Michigan's coach turning back part of his salary for assistants? Was Stoops starving before his last million dollar raise?

I know, I know they can't do that legally, but they should be able to work something out, this is something that needs to be talked about and brought up on here and elsewhere, and don't waste your time jumping on me, I could give a crap what you think of me.

I don't know, but it might be Wills instead of Willis asking the questions, and maybe not so much about him wanting the "free" money as him (and others) asking why UK isn't giving this commitment to football, which WILL affect our recruiting.

Gotta go, discuss.

And it is Minardi Hall. Don't confuse the NCAA.

I've brought this up before and nobody seemed to care that much about how low UK's COA stipend is

How can anyone trust a CBS Sports survey? Don't trust this report, its figures are specious and few people know what the cost of attending the school versus what it costs the university. This is a dust up with almost no credible data.

This article might shine some light on this situation. Are we being asked to approve falsifying federal documents to build our football program. Seems like some credible people from UGA and Kentucky are a bit concerned and for good reason:

An interesting quotation from the link: (thanks for the link)

The $5,586 in Auburn's cost of attendance is divided into $2,728 for personal expenses and $2,858 for transportation, according to the budget Reynolds provided to the Advertiser, and remains unchanged from a year ago.

The personal expense category is designed to cover the costs of cell phones and other electronics, clothes, and items for personal care. Though the assumptions involved are not spelled out dollar for dollar, even taking $80 per month for a cell phone bill leaves just over $220 per month for clothes and other personal items, which even a modest college student wardrobe would easily surpass.

"That is not a crazy figure either," Reynolds said. "It makes me wonder how some of the other schools that have lower (personal cost figures), how do they defend that?"

So, according to them UK's problem shouldn't be justifying increasing the personal expenses but in how could they have had it so low to start with. And, according to the article Auburn had this very high COA before the subsidies came up------unlike Bama which just about doubled theirs as soon as it looked like Auburn would gain a recruiting advantage. It does seem strange to me that three of the biggest cheaters around, (JMO) in Auburn, TU, and Transfer U came out at the top of the COA charts from the start. From Auburn already having this high personal expense number to start with and the fact that UK is wedged in between three of the highest expense schools in the nation it seems to me that UK should be trying to defend their low figures instead of worrying about justifying increasing them.

I also found Saban's comments very interesting, it makes me have to ask the question, were they made at the start of the "race" or AFTER Bama almost doubled their figures to become competitive with Auburn. The two times put his observations in two very different lights. A very big correlation between Bama and their in state rivals beginning numbers and UK's and our in state rivals beginning numbers------the only difference is that Bama wasted NO time in correcting their recruiting disadvantage.

I believe the "travel expenses" shouldn't be nearly as big a factor, athletes know when they come from California to play for Bama they won't be going home very often, that is their choice. And UK is already at a disadvantage there from recruiting athletes standpoint, we have to recruit most of our talent outside the state compared to other SEC teams, in both football and basketball------maybe not in baseball, but just how much did it clear last year anyway? Not that I don't love our baseball team. UK also rips off our athletic department in a way by getting full out of state tuition from our high percentage of out of state athletes, does a Boom, Unibrow, Conrad, etc etc add to or detract from UK and it's fundraising, ticket sales, etc etc.

And I firmly believe that NOT spending the extra money for the COA will cost UK a lot of income in the future, both from athletics income but also in academic donations, besides not giving our athletes what they should expect to get elsewhere. UK's athletic department has always been a big plus for UK academics, whether the profs want to believe it or not.

So yes, I believe some people are being shortsighted to the point of being stupid in our athletics endeavors-------again.

I've always wondered who pays for the players books? Those are super expensive and you can always sell them back to the bookstore for a few hundred at the end of the semester.
