he made no attempt to go after the ball but you would have to think he knew it bumped his knee.

asked would you want to be a pro athlete for say a 5 year career if you knew that your entire career was going to be defined by a major screw up?

I hope for Williams's sake that he gets a chance to redeem himself and does somehow, but more than likely he will be remembered and will always remember the time that he cost his team a chance at the Super Bowl with a muffed punt AND a fumbled punt in the same game.

I think it's safe to say that Williams will never play for San Fran again. Aside from a kicker, I cannot remember one player single-handedly costing his team a playoff win and a possible super bowl to the extent that he did last night.
