For the Egg Bowl, OM has the following visit:
http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&cfg=null&nid=4638602
http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=5596375

http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=6134414

and of course RN

What are they doing up there to make these players even look at them besides the obvious excuse of "$$$" but every school does that and playing time.

they have a nice adoption program. Actually, recruits are made aware that when they visit, that is when they will hear their offer. That is why, if you watch closely, their message board fans get pretty confident when they get a high profile recruit on campus. They also make sure it is well known where the recruits will be while they are in oxford. People need to know where they have to be in order to do a little handshaking.

Apparently our post election "riot" has not set too well with Green's mother, so it is still to be determined if he will show up or not.

Nothing will make an out-of-stater want to come to Ole Miss like their first Egg Bowl experience***

Seriously, that sucks. It is hard enough to recruit to the state of Mississippi. Add in some dubasses and it gets exponentially harder.

/and yes, I find that **** funny only because it was your dubmasses

The recruits are well supplied with loose blondes.

Either way, they're not getting Treadwell or that running back. I don't know about the others.

according to scout they have already offered every

high profile player, just look at the list ... however, I could see that approach on the lower profile players ... actually makes sense to me

Hard work maybe?

Maybe our guys are a working their *** off? No wait. That can't be the case. We are probably just paying them. Everyone knows if you go to OM, you get paid.

Just what in the hell could they possibly be doing that others aren't?

Seriously? What ever makes one person a better recruiter than another person? Personality? Charm? Boyish good looks? Nice set of teeth? Maybe he kisses momma's *** just right and brings his Bible with him for a prayer meeting? I really don't give a crap, but i suspect that he has good way of connecting with people. Some people have that gift and some don't.

Of course I didn't see a commitment from any of those links, so I don't know what the hell it really matters. At this point, all that proved was that he can talk someone into a visit.

I like the fact that Freeze is inviting recruits to watch OUR game ... let him do the leg work to get these guys in to see the better team

How do they do it? Again, easy to say, difficult to do......

Freeze obviously works hard at recruiting. They employ a different strategy than we do. They blanket offer the whole country to see who bites. They figure if they can get guys to visit, then they have a shot. They are looking for talent, and they obviously can't evaluate all these guys as necessary. Put it this way, it probably takes as much work for them to garner a visit from some IL kid, as it does us to gain a commitment from a closer guy.

I think our staff doesn't want to waste the time recruiting all those far away guys. Yes, Freeze will land 1 or 2 (maybe even a few more) out of staters before it's done (the TE and QB from Texas, for example). But is it really worth that to ignore the closer guys who provide depth? Guess we'll see in a few years.

Give Freeze and his bunch credit for being advertisers and sellers. Not sure how much evaluation they are doing though.

Reminds me of one of my favorite Gary Parrish quotes from a couple years ago.

He said that he would never understand why a non-mormon would want to go play for BYU or why a black athlete would want to go to Ole Miss.

Well I do know for fact that when Nutt was there they would pay cash just for visiting or or not visiting a rival. I'm willing to bet not much has changed.

Its really not the worst idea ever. Half the battle is just getting them on campus then hopefully you can blow their socks off once they're there

Ultimately you want guys who really want to be there......

...now, there are a number of good and elite players who really don't give a **** where they go to school, and that's where the bagmen come in. Cam Newton was one of these, C.J. Johnson another. I know some MSU players in this breath but I'm not saying any names....just don't want to look like I'm being a homer.

That's why I think it's a long shot for Ole Miss to land these out of state guys. Not many people from Illinois and Florida want to come to Oxford. But they may pick up one or two who get ignored by the instate schools, but are still good players. Talent is talent no matter where it comes from. But you want guys who want to represent your school and play hard for it. That's why 'Our State' is so effective with Mississippi kids.

After the Ole Miss Obama Riots, there were tweets from players saying they didn't go to Ole Miss because they liked it. It was for an NFL opportunity or some kind of other business decision.

No doubt. But remember, they are in the SEC.....

and that will attract some players by itself. Maybe some of these guys just want to take a visit to check out Mississippi Burning or something.

Didn't y'all laugh when I told y'all at the beginning of the season our coaches have a 3 hour recruiting meeting every single day when most teams have one a week? Maybe Oxford and our gameday are as special as everyone outside of state fans thinks? Your hate of ole miss blinds you of anything good there. I'm sure it's easier for you to believe we pay recruits to visit instead of our staff, who is lead by Ed Oregeron's recruiting coordinator, works their *** off.

Ask anyone who follows state recruiting how you're in the game with Elijah Daniels and Jalen Ramsey and they'll tell you it's because of Brewster and he's only been there a few months. There is a ton that goes into being a good recruiter but most importantly its work ethic

... I look over and see the handle, and it's Wailing Germy or Angie. D*MN! Please tell somebody tell us something we don't already know.

The question is how do they continue to get recruits to sign (or visit) with them (payed or not) when they are going to utterly ruin them. I mean TSUN can have the worst blasted stretch of seasons, have a program that no respectable coach would entertain taking the job, have a laughable conference W-L record, have a school that's as completely ignorant on the left as on the right, haven't been to a bowl game in three years - and still they manage to have an above par signing classes every year.

What do I expect when the NCAA won't even investigate Auburn who has been "burning" for a decades now? State gets thrown to the wolves because some A$$ clown isn't getting his cut. If it's not Cecil, it's always somebody. The South Carolinas, Arkansasses, and MSUs of the world have to work hard for their recruits. Why is it any different for TSUN?

17 Freezus and 17 his advertisers and sellers. They're 17 buying!

I can't believe I'm wading into this silly thread, but how does Ole Miss "ruin"

players? Ole Miss has a lot more players in the NFL than State and has a ton more stars with Wallace, Manning, Oher, and Willis. Even guys from Ole Miss' crappiest team of all time are in the league with Massie, Sowell, and Bolden.

I should say how does Nutt ruined players. Verdict still out on Freezus.

How's that TSUN draft stock looking recently? Compare the Dan Mullen era players in the NFL vs. the Houston Nutt era players. When they had the talent (2008-2010) signing classes, what have they done with it? Just to make your job a little easier: a little Spirit for ya - http://mississippi.scout.com/a.z?s=177&p=9&c=4&yr=2009

Anything else you disagree with?
