how the hell did OM get more first place votes than LSU?

how the hell did Alabama not get ALL of the 1st place votes in the West? I'll be surprised if they don't win the West by 2 games, and possibly 3.

The voter probably got MSU and !@*$ mixed up.

The depressing thing is that we could be the 25th best team in the nation and still only be 5th in the West.

any votes period...regardless of ole miss. they have a completely rebuilt oline that sucked last yr. a qb that is, well lets say inconsistent. no 'big league" rb...the starter will prob be ridley who nobody thinks is in the league with bama's first 4 rb's, and lastly miles is still headcoach. lsu has many more questions to answer than ark, or msu, or auburn IMO. i agree that bama should be the concensus #1 in the west pick but after that, IMO no way you could vote for lsu as #2.

everybody focuses on the miles cluster17 at the end of the ole miss game. what many forget is that ole miss physically kicked their asses all over the field for 58 minutes. top 5 recruiting classes or not, this is not a very good lsu team.

they will be 8-4 at best and miles will be gone by dec 1.

I said it on Nafoom, and I'll say it here. It's my outlandish prediction, but I'm calling LSU going 2-6 and finishing 6th in the West.

If I'm completely off, I'll say I was just messing around. If I'm right, I'm going to gloat.

Seriously, I feel like LSU could be the surprise bad team in the league. Sure they were 9-3 (5-3) last year, but I think they were the smoke and mirrors team of the SEC last year. They outscored their opponents 24.8-16.2 last year, but they were outgained 327.6-304.5 last year. It's hard to go 9-3 when you give up more yards than you gained. They were 12th in the SEC in total offense and 10th in scoring. They made up for that by being 6th in total defense and 3rd in scoring defense. Their defense carried the team last year, but their defense in terms of what it gave up was middle of the road in the SEC. It reminds me of a slightly better and more successful version of MSU's 2007 season.

As you say, they have Ridley as their tailback. Jefferson is a QB that holds the ball too long and runs himself into sacks. They lost almost all of their top receiving threats and a lot of their defense.

Before you start, I know we lost a lot too, but I feel like LSU could be in for one of those seasons where it snowballs on them. Just a hunch. They should've been a 7-5 team last year. They were 5-1 in games decided by 8 or less last year. Just a hunch, but I'm predicting they are in for a long year and it'll be Miles's last.

and Ole Miss and State at home. Is it more likely they beat State in September than Ole Miss in November? Or...the opposite?

Their schedule is set up too easy. They've got UT, MSU and UM all at home. They should win 2 of those. Then Vandy on the road. that's 3 wins right there. I bet they'll sneak in a 4th win from somewhere too.

I do think they'll flirt with 3-5.

They should win 2 out of MSU, UT, and Ole Miss at home. They should beat Vandy on the road. The other 4 games (Bama, @Florida, @Arkansas, @Auburn) are all going to be tough. Maybe they steal one, but I could easily see the Hatter losing all 4.

Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part, but I think they had a charmed season last year, so I say they are due for some reversal of fortune. Of course they are LSU, and they tend to bring the voodoo with them every year. They did win a national title with 2 losses of course.

They lost their top 3 RB's to injury...that will hamper any offense...they get Murphy back who was really good before his injury
Tolliver, Randle, and Shepard are going to be hell for secondarys to deal with
They lost some defense, but they do have the best CB tandem and best MLB in the SEC. And they have some redshirts coming on that can play. Mingo is one for sure.
Should have been a 7-5 team last year? They also should have beaten Mississippi regardless of yardage numbers, and if they get the pick vs Bama with 6 minutes left, momentum could have swung that game as well.

Miles beats Saban in BR this year. Remember I said it

They won a lot more close ones than they lost.

LSU has a good team with some talent. They also have Les Miles though. I don't see them doing better than 4-4 this fall. 2-6 is probably a stretch, but I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility for the mad hatter. The only thing that'll save them is that LSU is the luckiest school in the country period, hands down, so I'm sure they'll win more than they should.

And we would've beaten LSU 8 or 9 times out of 10 last year. They just didn't match up well with us at all. We did everything we could to give that game away and still won. MSU probably beats LSU 6 or 7 times out of 10 last year too.

I will never forget the "deer in the headlights" look he had on his face that first season in the UT game. Luckily for him, Saban left it on cruise control.

The only prediction that I'll make about lsux is that Miles won't be there next year. I questioned that hire when they made it, and he's done nothing to change my mind.

and Hokie Gajan was saying that he thought 4th in the SECW might be generous. Talked about last year having a fairly experienced OL and experienced group of RBs with Scott, Williams, and Holliday and they were still unable to run the football effectively.

Remember I said it
Again, you exaggerate to make LSU look good about as bad as you stretch things to make Stans look bad.

Should've beaten OM??? OM completely, completely, dominated that game, and LSU was lucky as hell to have the opportunity to be close. Bama doubled them up in yardage, and LSU was lucky as hell to beat MSU, UGA, and Arky. They could've gone 2-6 last year. and probably should've been 3-5 for sure.

They're going to give it all they've got and play w/ more emotion than any other game vs Bama, and they may pull that one out for that reason. But it doesn't matter b/c Bama will finish ahead of LSU in the standings even w/ a loss there. That's the difference in them, LSU is mediocre enough to trip up against mediocre teams a couple of times, while Saban will beat the lesser talented teams more consistently

The websites give recruits a boost if they are a high priority for LSU. Same for Bama, Florida, OSU, Texas, etc.

Those teams do get the best talent, but there is a boost given to those programs signees based on the name of the program. Signees for Michigan, Notre Dame, etc. also get boosts in the rankings, but those classes weren't that good.

LSU does have a decently talented team this year, but they're nowhere near the level Saban had them, yet the recruiting classes are ranked as strong or close to as strong.

I think they're still getting great talent, but what separates LSU under Saban and under Miles is player development. Saban is a master at getting his players to reach their potential, while Miles has seemingly done a so-so job with all everything recruits like Keiland Williams, Al Woods, Sidell Corley, Joe Barksdale... Ciron Black went from a 1st round projection after his sophomore year to an undrafted player. That wouldn't have happened on Saban's watch
