What are the chances that the Bulldog nation finds out Sidney is eligible to play from Stansbury putting his *** on the floor during a game?

Jackson wouldn't be able to keep his damn mouth shut long enough to keep it "secret".

How are you going to hide a 6'10'' 300lb guy that's been in street clothes all year until tip-off? You would be better off announcing it and getting the fans fired up before the game.

he may be a disruption for a little while, and he's horribly out of shape. You can't just throw a guy in a lineup seamlessly. Takes a while to mesh.

if some of you people expecting Sidney to be a "difference maker" and lead us to Final Four, you're going to be extremely disappointed. The guy hasn't played an actual basketball game in over a year, hasn't practiced with the team, and is out of shape. He would definately be the first one off the bench to back up JV, but that isn't saying much when you look at the other options (Riek and Lewis).

Someone in the NCAA office knows the outcome already. Those NCAA guys are so tight theymake the CIA look like Nelly Looselips.

If freedom comes tonight, we'll know when he steps out in a MSU Uniform. What a treat it would be to see the crowd's reaction if that were tohappen. Hopefully they will have a jersey big enough for him when (if) the day finally comes because he has gotten sor'ta chunky. His granny mightsay, "My grandsoncertainly has gotten stout."

I certainly would like to see him on the court. Wonder what kinds of lies would make him worthy of permanent banishment when so many guys have played under the shadow of hundreds of blatant lies over the years. Bragging that he lied to them might make him worthy of what seems to be happening, but he seems like a straight forward guy and I have heard no one say that he has been less than respectful of the never ending NCAA decision delay process.

edit - 2 o's in loose?

As far as his fitness,I don't know that he is "horribly" out of shape, so much so that he wouldn't help. First, we don't play an uptempo game. We also don't need him to come in and play 30 minutes. He obviously wouldn't have to move a whole lot on offense (because no one else does). Is he out of shape - yes. Is he so out of shape that he couldn't contribute? I don't think so. If he ever gets on the court, I guess we'll find out.

As far as meshing, that usually is an offensive issue. As numerous posters have pointed out ad nauseum, we have NO offensive chemistry. Sidney couldn't do any worse on the offensive end than our strategy of "stand around and jack up contested threes." In fact, he is supposedly a great passer (I think Stans said he would be our best passer) and could be the missing mid-range player who can pass or put the ball on the floor and make a play.

I'll say right off that I don't think the 2 situations are the same but there are at least some similarities. He's the closest thing I can think of to playing his first game mid-year and making a big impact. He had a big game against us this year in his first game for UTEP...not that it's major news whena big man does well against us which would bode well for Sidney.

I suspect Caracter was in really good shape, though, and from reading here that's not the case w/ Sidney...plus Caracterwas alsoa proven D1 commodity already.

Being able to contribute a few minutes and look solid doing it wouldn't surprise me at all.

he would play immediately because we have to have him if we want to make a serious run.

i'm worried that don jackson is making this harder on us. it's obvious that he's an attention *****. if the ncaa did free sidney, jackson would go insane and blast them for taking so long. if sidney never gets cleared, it'll kind of fade out i suspect

While that would be my choice, Byrne's actions in the past lead me to believe that he would rather try to spread to word so as to get as many State fans there as possible. It would be badass for him to come running out of the locker room in a jersey though.

I won't go so far to say that he's the missing link between us now and a deep NCAAT run. But, I will say that the guy has a skill set that will make the rest of our players look silly - minus JV's shot blocking abilities. He will make a significant immediate impact on offense regardless of his current fitness level. He will be a defensive liability however - unless we run zone every time he's in the game - which might be our best (or only?) option with him in the game.

Sidney starts dressing out every game eligible or not... shouldn't harm a flee to let him wear the Game day sweats. Then under great anticipation the home crowd is looking on in wonder at 14:21 mark as Stansbury does his little sideline pace back and forth then he makes the much much anticipated move and turns to the big man and says " Twinkie Get your big *** in the game!" The crowd goes crazy and the nation finds out "he is finally eligible"
