While watching the debacle Saturday and how unenthusiastic our players were, I remembered back to Duke playing UK at home a few years ago in OOC play. UK was still pretty good, but Duke had guys like Jay Williams and Carlos Boozer (I believe this was the year they lost to Indiana in the tournament under Mike Davis).
UK got up by double digits early and Coach K got so pissed that he pulled all 5 of his starters. He also told them to cheer on their replacements. With the bench players in, the 2nd Duke team picked up 2-4 points on UK in about 5 minutes, with the starters standing up and getting fired up over the play of the bench players. Coach K finally put the starters back in after 5-10 minutes of play, and they soundly defeated UK, being re-energized and ready to play.
Why doesn't Stans do stuff like this when our starters are stagnant? Yes, I realize Duke has McDonalds all-americans on their bench and we do not. If you are sucking though, don't pull a Croom and be stubborn and keep doing what is failing.
