Stand up for yourself and tweet back...that's how you handle e-bullies.

Boy I don`t know. I`ve been threatened pretty much every way imaginable and rarely leave my locked basement out of fear of these tough guys.
Not sure you should stand up to them. Cower in fear.

Twitter is pretty good for getting news as it happens and sports news updates, not something I would use for the social side of things though.

Therein lies the issue: often times you are getting a one-sided and rushed account of "news," without the benefit of perspective, thought, point and counter-point, etc. It can tend to be the e-version of a posse forming, but worse yet, with total anonymity.

Nobody I follow on Twitter is anonymous and I treat all news with skepticism.

Twitter updates are quick, to the point, eyewitness accounts by journalists on the ground, you still have to be skeptical, but it's mostly just a journalist telling you what they see and not injecting some political point.

The best thing about twitter is YOU have all the power to make it a positive experience. YOU can follow 1 person, YOU can follow 500. YOU can stop following someone if they tick you off. YOU can block trolls from following you. It gives YOU the ultimate freedom of choice to follow positive accounts that share truthful information about subjects you care about. Or, just like TV, YOU CAN CHANGE THE CHANNEL. Some (old) folks just like to take the negative media that is reported about twitter and pre-judge it as a wholly bad medium. Do you throw out your TV because "The View" airs on it? Do you burn the entire newspaper because it's full of advertisements for things we don't need? Do you not turn on your computer because of porn sites? Try Twitter and you might even like it better than this message board.

I used to do it.
Then I got tired of doing it.
I don't do it any more.
