How to recover old account???

Does anyone know how to recover an old account to post on message boards? I have tried to recover with my email address and the "forgot my password" link but no luck. I was very active on my old account so I prefer to recover that if possible.

Can you just keep toggling back through the old potted threads until you find your old postings?
