Id bet those are the same guys who go out of their way to justify hanging on to Collins. If B10 is super strong, Collins isn’t actually that bad, see? There is some talk behind the pay wall that IA had tired legs from playing 4 days in a row in the B1G tournament.
But hear me out, seriously, other conferences have tournaments too. Richmond played the same 4 games on the same exact days![]()
I’ve often wondered, mostly last year, how many times the word “gauntlet” was thrown around on this board.Id bet those are the same guys who go out of their way to justify hanging on to Collins. If B10 is super strong, Collins isn’t actually that bad, see?
I don't think the NCAA selection people realize this, but some of the computer ratings are vulnerable to the following effect...As IN will need a miracle to come back against SM, here’s a couple of data points that maybe should have signaled that, like last year, the B1G is overrated:
B1G/ACC challenge: impressive 8-6 against what several have called the worst ACC in its history
Gavitt games: 2-6 against the Big East. And bonus, we did not even play.
I think OKlahoma and Texas A&M are better teams than several of the B1G teams that made it. Unluckily for them, they were not in the overrated paradise of the B1G.
Same thing happened last year! Historically great B10 conference -> proceeds to **** the bed in the tournamentI’ve often wondered, mostly last year, how many times the word “gauntlet” was thrown around on this board.
Good, then everyone can whine even more about NU’s season.Same thing happened last year! Historically great B10 conference -> proceeds to **** the bed in the tournament
It was a gauntlet for us.I’ve often wondered, mostly last year, how many times the word “gauntlet” was thrown around on this board.
A little too soon to say that, especially in light of Ohio State's lights out defensive performance against Loyola. Now let's see how the rest of the day goes with some of the Big Ten's better teams (Iowa was only the fifth place team during the season). Every top BIG team has elite players (three consensus first team all-americans) and that's what separates them.Same thing happened last year! So...there are upsets in every tournament. Too early for conclusion that BIG is overrated.Iowa had one of them
Iowa is also built for being upset:
1) They don't face opponents they know well as in the B1G
2) They play fast and furious, and on some days, when they are not on fire, that just does not translate to 80 points like they had against a very tough IN defense
3) They usually don't have the ability to be tough to score on. Add that to not always being on fire and you got a mix to be prone to being upset
Their season ended, in 2021, scoring 80, but allowing 95 from Oregon. In the same similar style they have, with Garza and Wieskamp.
Having said all this, they managed to beat Purdue, not by scoring like crazy, but by keeping Purdue in the 60's.
Have you seen my bracket? Kind like what you see belowGato, we're forced to concede you might know something after all! Tell us who wins the tournament so we can get our money down!
After watching Iowa go through the conference, I was sure they were bound for glory.
Can you elaborate…?Michigan advances, showing how stupid and meaningless the Howard suspension was.
FCK Michigan tho, asshatsMichigan advances, showing how stupid and meaningless the Howard suspension was.
Phatcat was hoping that the punishment for Howard’s transgression was that the city of Ann Arbor be demolished. Can you elaborate…?
That technical was one of the worst calls I’ve ever seen.Houston is up 40-37 on Illannoy. Houston appears to be playing Hack-a-Kofi whereas they’d likely just be better off playing straight up.
Pulling for Houston in a big way…
…they lost by 15. That one point had little to no impact on the outcome of the game. That technical was one of the worst calls I’ve ever seen.
Frankly, the results are not surprising. Is there really a good coach in the league. Izzo last won a title in 2001. Wisc runs a system Michigan, Indy and OSU have newer coaches. Is Painter any good? I don’t think so, underwood? No. How many professional players come from the B10? Not many. The Big 12 is a better league. I’d be surprised if the B10 gets a team in the Sweet 16.
You clearly weren’t watching and I guess don’t understand how sports works.…they lost by 15. That one point had little to no impact on the outcome of the game.
I watched Illannoy struggle with Houston all game. Once the Cougs started playing their game, they owned the second half. The one point from the technical is a loser’s excuse from the coach, their teams, and their fans. You clearly weren’t watching and I guess don’t understand how sports works.
It’s not worth arguing with a brick wall but that was the first article on my ESPN app.I watched Illannoy struggle with Houston all game. Yes, i saw that. Illannoy’s Coach Underwood using it as a loser’s excuse is the article. It’s not worth arguing with a brick wall but that was the first article on my ESPN app.
Thanks. My mistake. It’s what happens when on vacation and see snippets. They already have a team in the Sweet 16.
