How worried should we be about our running game?

I know they had almost 200 yards on Memphis and the reports all say the running game was fine, but it appeared that our guys didn't have just a whole lot of success, other than the gaping hole Ballard found. Remember, most of Russell'sthrows came on third and long.I'm not sure how this little stutter-step-and-then-change-direction business will work against a faster front seven.

I feel pretty certain we didnt tip our hand too much vs Memphis regarding the running game or the passing game for that matter.

Second, if we'd gained 197 yards with one back instead of the committe, then there might be some cause for concern that auburn could make us one dimensional by shutting down the one running back. Of course we have lost the nearly sure fire 3rd and short conversion because our rb was a locomotive, but we have gained a dimension too. You just cannot predict with much accuracy WHO will be getting the ball now that Dixon is gone.

THAT, in and of it self , makes our running game a bit stronger (in a different way than last year) and the spread offense more in tune with what it's designed to do.

No, we arent a better running teamwith Dixon gone and there will be some shaky moments when we need those tough yards, but worry? I didnt see anything that gave me cause.

I'm not to worried about it. it seemed like we only used 3 different running plays the whole game. definitely didn't open up our playbook<div>

Worried, but not enough to stress over it. Mullen is from the Urban Meyer coaching tree. They know how to tailor their offenses to fit the talent they have. It won't be as prolific as last year's rush offense, but Mullen is creative enough to get guys the ball in the running game

used that word "worry" and I e-mailed him and told him to change it to concern, and never heard a word from him...I'm still here but his sorry *** is gone..

Memphis sold out against the run and we killed them in the air. If Auburn tries the same thing they will get the same result. They will play a more balanced defense and there will be some holes this weekend. I don't think we really learned anything about our running game other than we have some talent. Thursday will tell if they are really good or not.
