How would this guy fit in this year?

8. Oklahoma: The Sooners have a huge chance to regain some momentum when they host Baylor on Tuesday. Forward Romero Osby is averaging 17.3 points in his last three games, but he may have trouble against the Bears’ size and length. Upcoming road games at Kansas State (Saturday) and Kansas (Feb. 1) won’t be easy.

Hood to the #2.

He'd also help by playing more minutes that Wendell Lewis plays when Sid is in foul trouble (which is every game).

We could also use the surprise 1-3-1 zone defense with him at the top of the key, a la Brandon Vincent.

Either he was on the bench because he had a terrible attitude (to put it in perspective, so terrible that Ravern and Kodi should play before him) or he was completely mishandled by Stansbury. Either way, no reason to think that the problem would have gone away if he stayed at MSU.

They're more experienced in the system.

He'd be a senior this year and would be a very big contributor (just like he's doing for OK). He could play a big 3, 4, or a small 5. He's a bit more versatile (but less skilled) than Moultrie.

Ravern and Kodi played before him because they were experienced in the system (I use system very loosely here...(cheap shot at Stans)).

and I'd much rather be where we are now than with Ro here. I'm glad he's doing well at Oklahoma, but he would still be the 6th possibly 7th player in the rotation with our current roster. And Rodney can't play the 2.Well, he could just not very well.He is a 3. He is not a shooting guard and doesn't need to be guarding guys that are quicker than him. You think he could've stayed with Jenkins on all those ball screens as well as Bryant did? Romero just didn't fit at MSU for whatever reason. He is a tweener between a 3 and a 4 and it just didn't work out at State. But I wish him nothing but the best. Heck, I hope we get a chance to put them out of the NCAA tourney in March

and we would bring Hood in off the bench- Osby would have split time between the 3 and 4- resting Moultrie....and also giving us a smaller line-up with Moultrie as the 5 when Fatboy was in foul trouble

I think Hood would have moved over to shooting guard and Steele/Bryant would come off the bench. However, Osby just did not fit in at State. I liked Romero but he gave us very little in the way of a post presence.

Baylor is a top5 team.
Mizzou is a top 5 team.
Kansas is a top 10 or higher team.
KState is a top 15 and higher team.
Iowa State is currently projected to make the NCAAs.

Texas A&M was highly ranked but has been terrible compared to their expectations. Still, they are not a bad team.
Texas is not good, but not terrible.
Texas Tech is...eh.
Oklahoma State isn't good and isn't awful.
Oklahoma isn't good and isn't awful.

They have 4 of 10 teams highly ranked and 5 of 10 projected to make the NCAAs.
their lower half isn't great, but none are pitiful.

Doesn't seem like a weak conference to me.

I think he would be another piece to an already super talented team... He and Stans didn't get along, basically called out his lack of an offense when he left..

Osby would play a lot, more than Wendell does now, but he's NOT a 3, and can't guard that spot, just as Hood can't guard 2's. Osby doesn't have a quick release at all from the outside, and doesn't even have the quickness or ability off the dribble that Kodi had, although he had more size and is more physical in the post than Kodi.

Even with him the best lineup that we would have would be the one we start now. The staff has Hood out there for more minutes than anybody on the team

Osby said he struggled finding his rhythm as a player in the four
out/one in based sets because he felt uncomfortable on the perimeter as
much as the offense called for.

“I felt a lot last season that I could post up my guy who
was usually 6-foot-4 or 6-foot-5 and get easy buckets that way but I
never had the opportunity,” Osby said. “Again, coach Stansbury’s system
at Mississippi State is a winning one but it’s not for me and that was a
big part of why I made this decision.”
