How would/will Borges impact our team?

It's all about who the head coach is.

We had 2 NFL offensive minds under Jackie Sherrill, Arians and Amadee. Our offenses still sucked because it was JWS at the controls.

for the obvious reason. In addition, Borges didn't get the job done at Auburn, I wonder why anyone would think that he would here. I think there are better hires out there. As to getting one to come here, I don't know.

Other than causing the videoboard to rip at the seams if he and Crxxm were shown at the same time.

He did that at Auburn. Yeah, you're thinking any offense would match Auburn talent. Well, uh, except a spread offense I guess. He did a heck of a job keeping both Cadillac and Ronnie Brown involved. He also exploited both of their individual strengths in the ways that he got them the ball.

Borges would be a good improvement simply because he's intelligent.

1. Croom isn't going to hand the reins over to anyone. Have you not figured out how stubborn he is yet?

2. We have neither Ronnie Brown nor Cadillac Williams on our team. Or Jason Campbell.

[Watching first offensive set; looking back at the golfcart]: "You're kidding, right? I mean, this is a joke, right? Alan Funt's son is here somewhere, isn't he?"

on whether Croom will give him the reigns of the offense. Yes, people are going to say "but Croom is stubborn", but at the same time he's not stupid. He's also gone back on his word numerous times. Anyone remember "I won't fire an assistant coach" and then he fires Amos Jones? How about this years "offense of the week"? One week we're WCO, next week we're spread, the next week power-I? What's next? Wishbone?

Anyway, I don't think it's all that inconceivable that Croom lets an OC take over the offense, especially if it means keeping him employed. And yes, I think Borges would be an upgrade if Croom does indeed let him take over the offense. He did pretty well at Auburn and the only reason that they fired him as far as I can tell is because they wanted to go to a spread offense, and of course that's turned into a complete debacle. I will say this- Auburn wouldn't be staring down the barrell at going 6-6 with Borges at the helm of the offense. I also thought he did a great job with Jason Campbell, who struggled mightily before Borges came and wouldn't have gotten into the first round without him, and I thought he did a great job with Brandon Cox. Yes, he runs the WCO, but he obviously can install his version in one spring, and not in five years +.

Where is the downside to taking this job? [especially if reports that he's applying for HS jobs is true].

If he gets full control and turns the offense around, his career is resurrected and he gets a fat check. He's the hero.

If he gets full control and the O still sucks, he gets a fat check and can go back to applying at HS, so what has he lost?

If Croom maintains control, we will definitely suck anyway, and Borges gets a ready excuse plus a fat check, and he can go back to applying at HS.

Where is the downside?

I dont think AU fired Borges just cause "they wanted to go the spread." I think they fired him cause their offense had sucked complete *** he past 2 years (ranked 88 and 97 in '06 and '07 respectively).
