I agree 110%. This is a loss for the ages. The coaching staff let a player that could hardly walk try an end around on the last play of the game. Smallwood is a horse with a nose for the first down. Give the ball to Smallwood to win or lose the game!

It was a zone read, so it was probably Howard's call to keep it. Not sure why he kept trying after not even getting close to first couple times.

That's where coaching should come into play. A savvy head coach has to see that it hasn't been working on previous possessions and take the option away on a critical down if the player is too stubborn and/or too injured.
