Did they lose anybody? Did they flip anybody? I think they lost a couple of coaches, also just curious if that hurt them today.

Vols signed 21 recruits. Finished anywhere from 12-16 on the various sites. Picked up 4☆ athlete Tyler Byrd, 4☆ S Nigel Warrior, 5☆ DE Jonathan Kongbo, and 3☆ WR Lattrell Williams. Byrd and Williams were Miami commits until lastnight.

Solid class that filled some needs. Came up short on the D line IMO, but did get the #1 juco DT, and #1 juco DE. For the first time since Butch was hired he won't have to rely on freshman coming in and contributing early.

I will tell you...FABULOUS ...we could only sign 21. Nine four stars...the rest three stars. Incredible speed at all positions.
We signed the number one JC player who has three yrs of eligility, Kongbo
Signed the best defensive backfield in all of college football, after flipping Byrd from Miami, and signing Nigel Warrior...an Eric Berry clone
And Jaret Gurantarro , best dual threat QB in the US.

Shea Patterson would disagree with you on Jaret Guarantarro

UT has 17 starters coming back...so they didn't need to do a ton this year. It looks like the resident UT lurker fans said they did alright though.

Filled needs but not a top 5 class due to numbers

We have four 4* and one 5* redshirt freshmen that should contribute

Redshirt upper vlassmen are what kept mizzou afloat for a few years.

Gotta have depth enough to get them

I don't want to concede any games, but the UT & Bama games will be the 2 most difficult, IMHO. Those 2 teams will likely be the preseason favorites to meet in the SEC title game.

Several positive notes... UK does return a bunch of starters & 2 deep players, especially on offense. Transfers Love, Laster & Hart will all be available. Also, UK is bringing in several potential impact JUCO & FR recruits. I also think that the offensive coaching, play calling & O scheme changes will positively help UK.

However, you can't ignore the fact that UT whipped UK worse than any other team (except for maybe Miss St) and UT returns a ton of starters. UT should be even better in 2016.

It is extremely difficult to go from getting blown out to getting a W in one year. However, it can be done. UK got completely mauled by both UL & LSU, back in 2006. Yet UK turned around & beat both of them in 2007, despite both of them being ranked in the top 10 & LSU was #1. So it can be done.

At the end of the day they were 7th in the SEC and will always be chasing Florida, Georgia, LSU, Ole Miss and Ala. They are a top 5 program in their minds only. They will never be a consistant top tier program. Even if they win the weak east next year they will lose to Alabama twice. They lose the whole team next year and will again be a 6-7 win team and in 2-3 years they will fire Jones and try for the 15th time to hire John Gruden. Lol

TnCatForever, you need to look at UT roster again if you think will lose whole team. 1OL, 4 DL (but very deep there) 2 LB, 2 DB's and off course 2 RB's and QB but have 3 other 4 star QB's on campus. This is out of our 2 deep plus just signed 3 DB's in Rivals 100 so we will still have plenty of firepower plus DL will be very strong. UT had the second most wins in FBS from 1996 to 2006 behind only Michigan. Don't see the recruiting letting up as we finished 15th we only 21 open spots and already in on a very strong Instate class next year especially in RB's and OL plus our best recruiters are strong in NC, FL and do pretty good in the JUCO considering we signed 4 and 2 were graded best at their positions. Butch may not be the best coach but a lot of great talent makes a good coach great especially if you get that talent every year. And as the old saying goes - Better to be a has been than a never was!

That is something to brag about....you have one fluke championship against a team having to play a third string QB in the history of the program and yet to hear UT fans talk they are Alabama....lol...there is more adieu about a program that has accomplished nothing...Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, FSU, Ohio State, USC, LSU, Florida, Michigan,.....those are football powers. UK basketball 8 titles. Alabama 18 titles in football....UT men's programs 1 title. Now even your once mighty womens basketball team is dead....UT is relevant only in Knoxville. Now go back to your own board and talk to your toothless friends.

TnCatForever, again you need to check facts. If you will look closer, General Neyland won several National Championships before and after WWII so once more you didn't check all your facts but I can understand the dislike for a team that has beat you 29 out of the last 30 years and the coach you continue to say will get replaced has hung 50 or better on you every year with some teams that just weren't very talented. I feel the same way about KY basketball as I grew up on the TN/KY line and had to hear about UK basketball all the time and took the ribbing every year good naturedly as I knew I could return the favor in the fall. Surprised after Tuesday's BB game there wasn't at least a couple of KY BB fans jumping off bridges, as that's how I felt when Dooley lost to UK. But whether you believe it or not, Butch Jones is the real deal as he is a great recruiter and closer and has surrounded himself with great coaches who have all either been with Butch for a while or have coached at Power 5 schools with great success. And yes, it's been a while since we beat FL but after a couple of close losses we finally beat GA this year and finally on even terms with them and Fl in talent. Until Mizzu came into the league, only FL, GA or UT had been to the SEC championship game with the exception of the one year USC went and looks like that will be the norm again with the way those 3 are recruiting compared to the other 4.

Only relevant in Knoxville? Our recruiting would seem to suggest otherwise. You know what's coming..UT trails only Bama in most historical categories in the SEC. 10 years of below average football doesn't erase that.

This is going to sound like a slight, and maybe it is, but I don't mean to be disrespectful. How the hell did Butch Jones turn around Tennessee? He was a very average coach an Cincinnati. Dude seems to be killing it an Tennessee. I just cannot figure out what happened between his average Cinci career and Tennessee.

Would have gone in the first if he was playing OLB. or DE. Just fix the ruts in that pasture everyone is forced to play in when they visit knoxville. Warrior is a good player, but he is no Eric Berry and anyone thinking he is wil be disappointed.

When talking about widely-recognized National Championships in the era of the polls, the University of Tennessee has a total of 2, and would not have had their 1st if the final poll had been released AFTER the bowl games, since the Vols lost in the Sugar Bowl that season.

1951 .... 10-1 .... Robert Neyland.
1998 .... 13-0 .... Phillip Fulmer.

UK has not competed vs Tn, have entered the games unprepared, unmotivated and lacking focus. That needs to change because these games have become embarrassing humiliations. The desire to compete and change needs to take over at some point.

I totally agree with you, however we are building, too. Theyve beaten us badly the last 2 years, but that doesn't mean we can't win next year. While we probably won't be getting as much talent as UT gets, if we stay on the recruiting trend we're currently on, we'll certainly have a much better shot than we're used to against UT.

Hope not, but you certainly have the past 30 years. Though, I don't know it's something to brag about since its been blatantly obvious Kentucky hadn't taken the sport seriously in almost 3 decades.

In saying that, it looks like they finally are. If so, the next 3 decades will be very interesting for UT and UK.

They will be a factor in the east because of some coaching changes....but they have already penciled in victories against everyone in the east and both west games and think they will beat Alabama...and win all non-conference games.....all the ones around me in Nashville are already talking SEC title game and championship....next year is their year if you listen to them....I assume that Georgia, Florida, Alabama USC will be decent....who know VA tech might be a good game...They live in la la land until reality sets in then they lose all their team next year everyone else rebuilds and reloads...and they go back to being a middle of the road SEC team like they have for the last 18 years.

I'm not who you were talking to, but I'll answer. Those programs, like UT are not irrelevant. However, they're also not anywhere near being a national powerhouse like a lot of Ut fans think their program is. That's my opinion.

Now, a Kentucky fans opinion is definitely different than a Florida fans opinion. To them, maybe those teams really are irrelevant because they've been so successful against them for so long.
