This is Major Tom to ground control: I'm in northern Lee county and I've been up since 4:00. I went to bring some family to my house to keep warm. I already had a complete sheet of ice on my truck. Not much on the roads yet, but the side roads are frozen with a thin layer of ice. Nothing much on trees and not much coming down YET. 8:20 am saturday

Absolutely nothing here except panic buying. I would say its people that got caught with their pants down during helene, but this area panic bought during covid.

56* here and overcast. Supposed to get in the mid to upper 60’s. If the sun will pop through I might go walk 9 holes. I did crank my generator this week and have plenty of fuel just in case.

North of Dallas. Mostly light sleet overnight, but we did get a glaze of freezing rain first. Roads are poor but there are a few people getting around. Supposed to get another round of heavy sleet or snow tonight. I stocked up on supplies this week just in case, but I most likely have some form of PTSD from 2021.

Souther Lee Co.,MS, freezing rain here, 1/4”accumulating on the drive and roads. Trees are glistening with ice. Supposed to go on all day and deep into Sunday. Cooking vegetable/beef soup and grilled cheese for lunch. Not tuning in to Vandy game. I’ll wait for twenty days for baseball.

We were out a little over a week. My grandmother in Clarksdale was without power for a month.
In NE Ms we were without electricity for 11 days. We had water the entire time though. Our local rural water district put PTO shafts on the pumps. When power fails someone nearby just drives a tractor over and pumps the tanks full of water every day or two.

In Madison, AL - the southwest part of the county, a mile or two as the crow flies from the Huntsville airport.

Not doing anything now, but before daybreak there was a mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain, but it's very light. I put Ice Melt on the front stoop and sidewalk so all is well. We're right on the southern line of all the precipitation - the mid and northern part of Madison county have quite a bit more, but really not much of consequence except television says there have been some problems on the roads. It's the weekend so not that many going to work.

So far, there's really nothing unusual. We've had much, much worse.

I'm in Central MS. Right now it looks like we're just south of the line that predicts not much ice below it and lots of ice above it, so the next 18 hours are going to be interesting and very temperature dependent.

It's 38° with a very light rain at this point.

Northern Lee County, ice starting to glisten on tops of tree limbs. Matt showed 2.4 inches of ice for Tupelo by Sunday night. I just can't see it. The temp is going to get above freezing tomorrow (hopefully) so maybe we only get .5 inches. Roads are wet and should freeze overnight. 12:50 pm.

in Jackson, and just light rain as of 1:00pm. Really concerned about how things will develop after midnight as our temps look to dive down going into the morning w/ more rain expected.

I guess what we have in our favor right now is that the ground temps are up b/c it has been decently warm here

Everybody stay safe, and grill good food

Same here in Madison. Looks like temps aren’t expected to drop until about 8AM Sunday & not to get below 31 till late Sunday afternoon. So we may dodge a bullet. Weather app predicting 0.2” of ice.

Piedmont Triad in NC. 25 degrees and precip is supposed to start in 2-3 hours. Current forecast is that it will start as snow and shift to sleet/freezing rain sometime tonight.
