Power went out at 1:09 am. Lying here in bed listening to tree after tree snap.

‘94 here we come.
Oh man I feel for you guys. Lots of rain here in east central MS with temperatures around 50. Temperatures to drop as the day goes on but nothing to complain about as compared to northern MS on up.

3:30 am.. judging by how many times my house is being shaken from entire trees hitting the ground, I don’t think there will be any left standing in N. MS.

This is going to be worse than 94.

Thunder and moderate rain in Madison. Just above freezing, temps should start dropping in another hour or so. TAF for area airports calling for freezing rain until 11 or so this morning. I knew Sunday would decide how central MS panned out….we will see.
Praying for you fellas in N. MS, I remember the ‘94 storm in Tupelo well for someone that was little.

And looking at the radar, there’s no end in sight. I keep thinking we may get a break and it may stop raining for a bit, but it’s been almost nonstop all night long.

Power went off at 3:30 in north Lee county. Just put kerosene in the heater, got propane heater ready, filled bathtub and buckets for non potable water and can’t wait for sunrise. My inside Labrador keeps scratching the back door to go check outside since trees fall every 10 minutes

6 am.. cannot tell you how many trees have hit the ground. Shaking the house when they land. I keep thinking.. that’s got to be the last one standing.. but 30 seconds later another one goes.

Huge lightning flashes and claps of thunder around 4:30… and as I type the rain is still beating down.

Adams County started getting a mix at 3 and it hasn’t stopped. Currently 28 and pellets. I don’t expect many people to have power after 10:00 AM.

The east to west difference is amazing. It's 48 in north central Alabama with heavy rain just past 7 a.m. Supposed to turn colder later on but the precipitation should be gone by then.

A "shelter in place" has been issued for Oxford. Comments on face book say it's like a war zone and power crews have been recalled until it's safer.

Looks like the center of the large low pressure is near the Mississippi/Alabama line not far from Starkville. Still warm here but my barometer is plunging as the low moves to the NE. it's 20 degrees colder in Tupelo than it is in Huntsville at the moment, 30 degrees colder in Memphis.

Man I feel for you guys. That’s giving me flashbacks to 94. We lived at the foot of the bluff at the time and that morning I woke up to nothing but the sound of huge trees crashing to the ground on the bluff above us.

Best I can tell, the forecasters totally nailed this storm, even predicting the "warm nose" that temporarily came up into north central Alabama and southern middle Tennessee to avoid the worst of the storm. They tracked the ice up through Mississippi and points northeast almost perfectly.

And the predictions were pinned down two or three days out, and the fact that the storm would even occur at all at least a week out.

We made it through the night with a couple of flutters and one outage for 3 minutes.

Then at 6 we lost power, saw spotlights outside, so I think they cut it off. Now limbs are crashing everywhere and it’s still raining/freezing. Thunder ice at daylight.
We in Carroll county. Got the Genny running and sipping my coffee by the gas logs.

I live in Maryland and we just started getting hit late last night. So far about 4 inches of snow. About to transition to ice. Parents live in Greenville. They haven’t left the house but haven’t had issues. Said roads are bad but no power loss so far.

We were very fortunate in Desoto County. It was so cold (roughly 16 degrees at 9 PM last night) that the rain falling through the warm layer was freezing enough to be wet sleet instead of freezing rain. Otherwise we would look like Oxford. This is outside my back door.

Headed west on i10. Spent the night in San Antonio thinking it was free and clear ahead of me. Boy was I wrong. 17* in west Texas with ice in front of me.
Finally punched all the way thru the winter precip about 40 miles before El Paso yesterday afternoon. Approached my threshold for sketchiness on the road a handful of times. Ran 4wd for probably 250 miles. Rained on me all the way to Tucson.

Wife still has power in Madison, but given the area we live and how often it loses power, it will be off soon. Hope she actually paid attention on how to crank the generator

No, he's been gone several years. Moved back home to Oklahoma and I think retired there. The best known TV weather guy here now is Brad Travis on Ch 48.
He stands out to me for getting excited about a potential tornadic storm around ‘97 and saying “I’m predicting death!!!”, very emphatically. We got a wall cloud with lightning…

Praying for y'all getting backsided by the freezing rain and ice. Woke up here in North Texas with 2-3 inches of packed ice and sleet and a powdered-sugar dusting of snow. Wind chill is -9 right now.

My delivery fee is steep.

Also that thing is badasș for cooking steaks. Put a thick ribeye in for a couple of minutes on each side at 700 degrees and it comes out looking like Ruth’s Chris
One of my all time top ten steaks came out of a wood fired pizza oven.

You must be my neighbor. If someone sneezes wrong, we lose power. We have power now, but I’m anticipating that the length of icicles on my house and the pending power loss are directly related
