Landon Powell graduated early, but because he was too young for the draft, he had to go to South Carolina. I know he has played for the A's some in the Big Leagues.

I think Southern Cal has a player that skipped his senior year as well. Not sure if he played much or what became of him.

But Harper will be the first to officially skip a year (or two) of HS and get drafted and not go to college that I can recall.

If you're a good soccer player, you go into an academy when you're a tween and don't come out until you're either a burnout or a marketable commodity. Of course they have human trafficking in young Africans as well so maybe our way is better.

just under the guise that our athletes are getting educated and involve their parents.

After Ricky's Daddy and Jimmy's Daddy, I think the Jedi way of separating children from their parents isn't a bad idea either.
