I haven’t seen anything any follow-up on a post on on either X or facebook, but someone said Melvin Miller chose OSU. I know now that is fake news, but does anyone remember that and does anyone know how Melvin is leaning?

He has been spending a lot of time around the program but don’t think there’s any confirmed leaders at this point

I know it sounds cocky but you’ll know who we’re recruiting by who has us in their top group of schools. I don’t think we’ve ever seriously pursued Amato. Ive been told he’s the type of kid Chris Perry would’ve loved, if you know what I mean.
Any idea where he ends up? I’m kind of hoping for OU or ASU. He’d be a boon for either one of those programs.

Boys I got bored so I pulled up some footage of Israel Borge. The kid is a hammer! Good in all positions, STRONG, funky and aggressive. Dont know where he would fit in the line up but with 2 more years of HS he's only going to get better.
And he is only going to be an hour and a half away from Stillwater so he will be plenty close for DT to come recruit him.

What weight does he project at?

Willie has him at 144 going into this year, ranked 4th in the nation (Bassett #1). He lost by 1 point to Bassett's teammate Sam Herring at Ironman last season. Borge cut him at the start of the 3rd and Sam was "running" for dear life. I have zero clue how much he might grow. Maybe Smalls will see this and give some insight.

190 pounder out of Indiana, Michael White committed today! He recently finished 3rd at Fargo and got a win over Adam Waters though Waters was dealing with a leg injury of some sort. He's ranked #40 on Flo's 2026 Big Board. He was previously committed to Minnesota

That came out of left field. Looks like a great pick-up though. He appears to have wrestled a little as a kid but then didn’t wrestle for about 4 years until his freshman year. Won 16u Folkstyle Nationals as a sophmore. Eggum has to be hating OSU. Spratley, Jamison, Robideau, and now White picked from Minny in the last 3 years.

Where the heck does he fit in the lineup moving forward? Class of 2026 so in his redshirt freshman season, Ryder and Merrill will both be RS Juniors? I guess you’d rather have too many than too few but that’s wild

I don't know if the kid will ever see the lineup. That being said, we're not incredibly deep at those weights. Feels like we could use some more guys at 184, 197 and Heavy.

Went down a rabbit hole and ended up here. Kid has an incredible story and doesn’t sound like he’s been wrestling very long. Starting wrestling as a freshman and working his way onto recruiting boards in that short a time tells me he is an insane athlete with a ton of upside. Starter or not, gonna root hard for this young man to succeed.

He looked tough when I saw him wrestle. Immediately, I thought he would be a good addition to the team

100%, we need some dudes to hit growth spurts.
It’s not as tight as one might think at 57 down.

There will be some attrition (albeit) less than normal. There will also be some surprises.

Those middle weights are pretty difficult to project, those lower weights are hard to find long term guys.

As young men mature, they may go from a 33 pounder all the way to a 57/65 guy.

Wow. All the way to a top 3 program. Easy new favorite kid

I really like the recruits DT targets. Every single one of them have a ton of upside. I never thought I would paraphrase Chael Sonnen, but I think he is correct when he said that wrestlers have certain amount of years they can stay at peak performance, due to the nature and difficulty of the sport. If they peak too early, they can burnout early. Get these athletes as they are starting to peak. Outstanding job

Hell of a story, how can you not root for the kid? Hope he can make it into the lineup somewhere down the road, regardless he should be proud of what he's accomplished so far.

Eh. He’s not correct there. Your own coach is proof of that.

It really comes to going to college and doing “less.”

there’s no avoiding the sheer amount of work it takes to become elite. But when you get to college? Your longevity 100% depends on your coach not breaking you physically and mentally.

That’s just not factual.

There is so much to it, the variables too numerous to outline. Saying that longevity is 100% is 100% on the coach is asinine. Things happen, things change. But it’s got way more to do with the guy putting on the band than the guy with the brick.

But I do agree, mentally breaking guys is counterproductive in many cases…not all.

David Taylor is the exception not the rule. You’ve been around the sport long enough to know that.
