I know some of you, like myself, do enjoy checking the ratings on different sites and probably have used Calprep.

Just to let you know, they've gone away from their free model and have adopted a subscription model.

They have prices for different levels on the site.

There is a lot of kick back among fans in Northern California where hsratings (old Calpreps) is headquartered. We will see how On3 takes care of Massey Ratings because that is why hsratings went to a fee based system - Maxpreps parent company, PlayOn, didn't take care the CalPreps financial needs. I think there is still a loose realationship between HSRatings and MaxPreps but neigher HSR or MP is no longer disclosing details of that relationship.
The fee structure for HSRatings is odd. The two elementary levels allow just so many "pages" of usage and the advanced level allows unlimited usage.

I recently saw a post on X that Maxpreps has completely separated from the support of HSRatings (CalPreps) and now independently produces its ratings data. We will see how MP ratings develop in the course of the season. We know the years of experience of Massey Ratings and Freeman Ratings (HSRatings) has created powerful and highly predictive systems. My years of following both systems suggests the Freeman system is the best followed closely by the Massey system. I will be following MaxPreps ratings to see it's comparative strength over the season. I have seen other systems that are so far behind the top leaders that it is laughable. Hopefully MP not be one of those systems.
