"<font size="2"><span style="LINE-HEIGHT: 15px; FONT-SIZE: 12px">Our sources tell us that Athletic Director Bobby Staub has an interest in Mark Hudspeth (Mississippi State Wide Receivers Coach/Former North Alabama
Head Coach) as the next Head Coach. Hudspeth spent the last seven seasons as the Head coach at North Alabama before joining Mississippi State
staff. According to our sources, Hudspeth is set to interview this week with Staub."

I wish him well. I've been to that school before and know some ULM grads, and it seems like a really good place.

I think this could be beneficial for Hudspeth if he ever wants to be the HC at MSU. It would be great if he got some D-I experience as a HC, and that would be a good place to do it. La. has a lot of talent, and so does Mississippi which is not far from there, as well as Texas. If he does well there and Mullen is hired away from us at some point after leading us to multiple Sugar Bowl appearances and a a few seasons like Cincinnati is having right now- I'm still wooly from the Egg Bowl- Hudsepth might be a good choice.

I know some people on here mentioned him as a replacement for Croom, but I think the reality is Hudspeth wasn't quite ready for a SEC HC job. But I think he could get there in due time.

(edited to add): Hud, if you leave now after 1 year, in my mind. you just went from the next head coach at MSU to a nobody and as long as the Ninja is here you won't ever come back as a coach,.

It is not possible to win there in I-A. Your next move from there will be down the coaching ladder, not up.

If Hud ever wants to be H.C. at MSU, I think he'd be better off staying w/ us .. getting to know our program in and out, wear out the recruiting paths, LEARN from Mullen (as Mullen develops) how to be a good H.C., ... THEN, if Mullen leaves, we could promote w/in the ranks, a guy that could be fully qualified that already knows how our program works. He could take what Mullen did well, and tweak things for improvement. Hud seems to be a guy like Mullen .. driven, high energy, intelligent, lots of ideas, hard working. If Mullen leaves, and Hud was deemed the best replacement, the transition would be smoooooth baby smooth.

I think if Hud leaves, I think he'll slip into coaching oblivion.</p>

As of this morning there has been no contact between Hud and ULM and there is no movement on either side, per Paul Jones and BDJ.
