instead of burying this on the 3rd page of Bruiser vs 6pack, finding it a new topic is a lot easier. comes from local news station.

as many are wondering if WE will be looking for a coach soon. Hud may be a candidate for MSU.

become our head coach. Anytime anyone, especially a very competitive type person like he and most football coaches, gets passed over....they don't forget and they don't just walk away with their tail between their legs. He will have an even stronger desire to show them they missed on not taking him.

He is Glenn's boy and will be perceived as a hire from the good ole boy network. I don't believe he will fly. Trilled they passed on Hud though.

If we do eventually hire Huds Ole Miss posters will be posting they did not want or he was low on their list. I guess if he can get three in a roll that would shut them up.

Im not saying we couldn't get a coach with a better resume, but I liked Hud and would have been happy to hire him.

I have no idea who we are going to hire, Im worried we are trying to hire a "Name coach" versus a coach that fits what we need.

At this point I have complete confidence in our ability to screw this up and end up with Freeze as HC, Joe Lee Dunn as DC, and Walker Jones as AD.

...UM, and I know many others that felt the same way. I believe Stricklin called him to tell him to hang on b/c Mullen might leave, and he just couldn't commit to us under those circumstances, and I can't blame him. I've heard some other "baloney" as well, but the bottom line is I wanted Hud in Oxford, not Starkville. You won't hear differently from me, ever.

Perhaps you think all Ole Miss folks believe LSU is our "real rival". I never have thought that, by the way, nor do any others that I personally know. And I've been around awhile(attending UM ballgames since 1970).

but if that is the way this plays out, I reserve the right to give Coach34 all kinds of hell for poking at us for having to potentially settle for a former MSU WR coach.

I think Hud would be a great hire for you or us, but Coach34 will not be allowed to talk positive about the hire without being reminded of his thoughts on the guy. I know he was just prepping a talking point for if we inevitably hired the guy, but still that's forever his opinion on the guy as far as I'm concerned.

a friend of mine with connections said archie and hud did talk but there are big concerns about his msu ties and a lot a big wigs at om don't want someone who was next in line at state. from what he's heard is that it's kirby smarts job to lose and that fedora is way down the list. i honestly hope fedora gets it
