I hate to lose him, but the fact that he got hired to a head job says alot for our reputation.

I'll definately be pulling for the Ragin' Cajuns, and I hope to see them playing in the New Orleans Bowl soon.

and the rep I was referring to was the coaching graveyard. We are slowly erasing that.

might very well be looking for a job soon with Urban Meyer leaving. The new coach may want to bring in his own staff.

I'll also nominate Bernard Euell from Madison Central. He played WR at MSU for Jackie in the early 90's.

LSU's WR coach, Billy Gonzalez, was the WR coach at Florida while Mullen was there. He would be my number one guy.

He left 7 seasons as head coach at UNA (with 10 or more wins in 5 of them) to come to State. I kind of figured it would be to stair step into Div. 1 coaching job.

at UNA, he would not have been considered. His entire resume must be considered and the UNA stint has as much weight as his time here.

I don't see how any asst position at ULL could pay enough to make it worthwhile to go. But then aGAIN, I don't know their figures or our alleged new figures.

but someone on our staff is leaving with him, and I think it is Melvin. The ULL folks are excited because Hud is "bringing MSU's best recruiter with him." I could have the wrong guy, but I assume that to be Melvin.

I'd like to think that's less than he was making as an assistant at MSU.

It's about making a name though. I think he'll have pretty good success in the Sun Belt.

and he was hired away means we are doing things right at Moo U. Not a coaching graveyard as others will try and have us believe. That's all I meant.

It might hurt us this year in recruiting, but I personally thought Hud was a mediocre WR coach, and it might not be Melvin's fault but our secondary is a lot worse than it should be. This is an opportunity, much like Torbush leaving on his own accord, to re-do some hires he made when he was making the transition from OC to HC.

That being said, I tip my hat to Coach Hud. May he have as much success as ULL will bring. It'd be nice to see a coaching Babylon start here at MSU spouting out coaches left and right much like the mid to late 90's Texas A&M.

Singleton is not very close with Bobby Hall, from what I have heard. Euell coaches WR's at MC, and is very close to Tobias and Price. He is the one who has brought them to MSU games in the past along with CJ McClain, who used to coach at MC.

Hiring Bobby Hall to coach WR's probably wouldn't be a great idea because he wouldn't last long with Dan. I think one TSUN reference would be all Hall could take. The only person who is a bigger Ole Miss homer is Shep Smith. Not exactly a guy that I would want recruiting for MSU.

Pogue I doubt would be much better in terms of quality. I question some of his tactics in terms of how he has handled Brassell and Market's commitments, something that he handled extremely poorly. How would he handle controversy with a recruit from a D-I school? Tell them to not commit if they're going to take visits?

Euell at least has played WR in college at the D-I level, and he has coached WR's at the high school level as well. He is a young coach, too.

Hud thought he was the next in line for HC job. That is why this has been drawn out. His reason for waitin to announce it was to see what mullen was doing. Yes his fam does shoot the bull in Louisville.
