Paul Jones or Wardlaw asked Hud about this last week. Hud said he has not been in "direct" contact with ULM about the job. Take that for whats its worth

wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't pursue the HC job. Many years ago I was an assistant basketball coach there, the football talent in that area is very good.

Your next move after the ULM job is back down the coaching ladder, not up. His best move from MSU would be a coordinator job in I-A or a head coaching job in I-AA (or at least in a I-A mid-major where you have a chance to win).

It would be a good choice for me if I had dreamed about being a division I head coach. Who cares where it is? See Turner Gill.

I'm sure his vision is a D1 HC job. Although ULM is a lower D1 job, he would get the support he would need plus he wouldn't be under any big "expectations" to win big. Like I said before, the football talent in the area is really good, La Tech who is ULM's rival has a decent football tradition and the reason is the players in the area. Also, like you said, going from a wr coach to any D1 as a HC is a step up not down.

They've never had a winning season since joining I-A in 1994. I'm not sure it's possible to win there. If his ultimate goal is a decent I-A head coaching job, it's going to be real hard to get there from ULM.

And just FYI, he and his wife, who is about to give birth, just sold their nice condo/apartment and bought a big house in Starkville. So, while that doesn't mean he won't leave, it definitely shows me that he's happy here. At least for now.

for assistants. Maybe he's trying to get a raise and stay put, and same for Torbush.
