Craziness

The blast caused numerous injuries and several buildings have been destroyed.

At least 10 building structures are on fire, reported WFAA.

A nursing home and a school are two of the buildings on fire, according to KWTX. And the fertilizer plant where the explosion is believed to have originated from is located within four blocks of the local hospital.

And unconfirmed reports say that an apartment complex is on fire with several people trapped inside.

This is a bigtime disaster

A large explosion rocked the town of West, Texas, 19 miles north of Waco, on Wednesday evening.
A source tells News 8 that a large swath of the small town with a population of 2,800 has been leveled

They are mentioning it. But they are not going to break away from this other stuff just cause....just cause they have their motives....all I am going to say without explaining...its all 17 up....here we go again.

You would have thought they would have showed this video since it happened hours ago in daylight..now they are showing live.

LOLZ... Fox News Greta is now interviewing a CL employee about the dude that mailed ricin. Clearly FNC doesn't recognize the insignificance that is the CL.

Wish FNC would move on to Waco.

As an aside ... West, Texas was featured on an episode of "Meteorite Men". That's the only other time I've heard of the town.

Probably because the CL is the only thing remotely near a major newspaper in the state?

Good small town just north of us here in Austin. Word is it has been leveled.

I was really happy to get a text from a really good friend of mine that lives on the west side of the interstate that he is okay. I was relieved. He is a super great guy and of course he is out there trying to help victims. I expected no less.

West is a cool little town with strong Czech and German roots and I hate to hear that something this catastrophic happened up there. Catastrophic is the term they are using and they are also worried about further explosions. The initial explosion put up a huge mushroom cloud. They keep having to move the triage center further away from the blast site and it still looks like an anthill from the chopper shots.

Seems to be really windy on the live video on CNN

That's not helping in putting the fire out, and in spreading toxic fumes if that's an issue.

If he can hear it... I have a feeling neither one of them will be able to hear much of anything anymore... I can't imagine how painful that was to be close to.

It's one thing to ride by a house fire, but a chemical or fertilizer plant that's on fire, regardless of what they actually make is downright stupid to be around (many of the raw materials used to make fertilizer are highly flammable or even explosive). There was a plant that exploded in Nevada about ten years ago that made some kind of jet fuel or propellant. Bystanders who wanted to get a closeup look were injured and killed in that explosion.

Word to the wise... if you ever hear of a chemical or fertilizer plant on fire, you best get the hell away from it.

What exactly was I supposed to be seeing? I saw several "reviews" consisting mostly of "prayers" with a couple of inflammatory comments thrown in.

About all I could get out of it was that the plant was located inside the little town, maybe a block from the hospital. I suppose one would ordinarily expect such a plant to be a little more remotely located.

I've been listening to the streaming broadcast of the scanner(s) for that county. Heard them say 200,000lbs of anhydrous ammonia had come into the plant that morning via rail.

Just had a live update from the Dept of Safety rep on scene.

50 to 70 home completely leveled.

Large apartment complex completely destroyed to just a skeleton.

Nursing home partially collapsed.

First thing he said that makes me proud to be in Texas... they don't need anymore help, but thank you for wanting to come and help. There has been an enormous response from emergency personnel from all around Texas to help with the tragedy that is more than enough to help with the situation.a

conspiracy theorists are already talking about the flash that comes in from the left right before the explosion and saying that it was a missile strike.

Didn't something like this happen at a magnesium plant or something similar a couple years back? Crazy that so many people depend on these places for their livelihood with these crazy risks.

Just damn.

Happened in the town of West, TX. My wife has family there and her half-brother got married there. Very small town with a majority of the people being of Polish or Czech ancestry. The girl he married was a Nemachek, like the stock car driver years ago. Very good hard working people

the "review" we saw is not there anymore.. hmm. it says something like "ashes to ashes, dust to dust. this is what we get when our nation continues industrializing." the comment was from a week ago.

What exactly was I supposed to be seeing? I saw several "reviews" consisting mostly of "prayers" with a couple of inflammatory comments thrown in.
