for as much as any single game early in the conference can be huge, this one is it. If we want to be anything like the team we hoped we were coming into the season we don't need to start off the year 0-3 in a HOME series. And I don't care if we are playing the Atlanta Braves doing it. Big difference in 1-2 and 0-3 as far as the hole you give yourself to climb out of. Win today's game and pull it together and win a series at KY and you are back to 3-3. However lose today and I can easily see us sitting at 1-5 or even 0-6 after making the trip next weekend to Lexington which would be disastrous.

It is big. Don't let the "Don't doubt John Cohen" group fool you. This team has a higher ceiling and different capabilities than the 2011 and 2012 teams. So far it's not living up to the billing because of its lack of focus and lack of fundamentals.

If its interested in hosting a regional, much less competing for an SEC title, this is a very big game considering how difficult our schedule is the rest of the way.

Agreed. You can get away with losing a few series, but you just can't get swept if you want to host a regional or compete for an overall title.

I agree with you on the talent part; but unless this group can get it together between the ears, we will not even make the postseason let alone host a regional.

Absolute must win today. I dont give a **** if this is the number 2 team in the country. We were preseason number 5. We are at home. We cannot get swept. Hopefully Graveman can keep the ball down and not hit anyone today.

It really is. We win today and we're 1-2 for the weekend against the #2 team in the country. Disappointing, but in the scheme of things not that bad at all. Starting the season getting swept at home puts us in a hole and having to make up ground if we want to have a chance to host. We need to break out of this slump today.

I think Graveman gets shelled. Just my first thoughts on the matchup. Would love to be wrong. Good thing is, Ole Miss and their #3 guy get to face Ryne Stanek today.

He was in this same situation last year and came through with a gem. I think he does it again.

I agree. I doubt we are ever even in the game today after the 1st or 2nd inning.

I think Graveman will pitch well, but I don't know if we can hold a lead. Our bullpen has been pretty taxed this weekend. If we get a lead, we need to continue tack on some runs in the late innings.

I think MSU wins today 5-3.

Can I be the first one to blame whatever bad things happen on our "lucky" green hats?

You have NO credibility. Stop posting about baseball forever.

You gauranteed that we would come in LAST in the SEC last year. We ended up 16-14 and were one of the first couple teams out of hosting a regional. You are the dumbest, most ignorant poster on this entire board, at least about baseball.

Saw a note that LSU has never swept three from State in Starkville...their radio announcer just stated it, so maybe it is true. I don't know if that's a good omen today or not.

Lets not let facts muddy the waters of your pitiful sixpack credibility contest. In our last 5 games, we have made 10 errors and hit 14 batters. Those two stats are certainly strong indicators of a team that is mentally prepared.

Are we a talented baseball team? Yes. Have we been focused for the last two weeks? **** no.

Go 17 yourself.
