Could be building a contender.

The only question is will they hang around long enough to really gel into something special.

Look at UVA. 2 and 3 years ago we were beating the nucleus of the national championship team. They stuck together and persevered. If we can do the same, maybe one will be in the picture for us too.

Don't think we'll be able to do it with many one or two and dones against the Kansas', Kentucky's and Duke's of the world.

Let's slow down a minute. National Championship?

Where the hell does that come from. Need to make sure the players we have in the Backcourt mature.
McCabe needs to take a major leap or someone who could play that position.

It is a very good start but we still need that DeAndre Hunter. Could play 4 positions on defense, rebound, shoot and pass.
If you built a prototypical basketball player it would be the Kawhi Leonard/DeAndre Hunter type
6-7 with a bigman's wingspan

That is exactly what I wrote. Maturity, taking steps, putting the right pieces in place, continuity. It could happen.

8-10 or 9-9 in the Big 12 should be expected.
If we can only lose once or twice OOC and win one or two conference tournament games we should be in luck
Maybe a 7-10 seed.

Jon Rothstein who is one of the better ones in the business has them in seventh next year but there is so much movement between 4th and 10th.
Their peak next year is probably 4th or 5th depending on the guards.
It is the fact they went 0-4 against Texas and Oklahoma State last year and both of those teams look to be better on paper.
Texas has a real high ceiling
Oklahoma State could even sneak into third over Baylor or Tech.

This year isnt the year. Maybe a tournament berth hopefully.

But in a couple of years, if they can stay together... maybe something special can happen.

A 2 guard comes through and a pure 3 point threat arrives and we couldnt ask for a better team in Morgantown. Length, speed, athleticism, versatility, defense, rebounding, beef, shot making, ball handling.....3 point threat is all that is missing, and you need it in the half court because you're not always going to get turnovers and layups. But things look good. Might be back to one of the best teams at both forcing turnovers and at offensive rebounding amd just wear people out

Huggins is going to bring the pressure again this year.
He has length again.
Haley
Matthews
Sherman

The question becomes McCabe and Knapper.
McCabe has some games but he also had those games were he was completely ran off the court.
He needs to be more consistent, faster and stronger. An off season in the weight room could help but he won't ever be Jevon Carter.

The versatility of Oscar is important as well. Can he stretch a defense and can he guard the perimeter.

There is no bottom of the conference this year. Jon Rothstein has TCU at the Bottom with Desmond Bane. Bane is a possible Big 12 player of the year.
Also has Iowa State down there with Tyrese Haliburton who is one of the best guards in the conference.
