Thanks to moving into the Big East over 20 years ago and thanks to Belien WVU had become a more consistent legit top 15 program that made elite 8 and sweet 16 and even won the NIT. At least we won the damn NIT even though we want better. Still the NCAA tourney became the normal season and Huggs inherited a gem of a program that Belien improved. Huggs directed a final 4 appearance and has continued the good program for some years as well but we can do better without him with a younger better offensive coach. WVU has been a ranked top 15 program the last 15 years basically. We’re a respected basketball school with a great fan base and legendary players like Jerry West illustrating our history. We are a winner in college basketball in a great powerhouse conference like the Big 12. WVU doesn’t need Huggins to stay relevant. We are a winning, highly recognized program at the highest level of college basketball. Huggs is getting old and I think good scorers don’t want to play for him. The word is out and it’s hurting us. His current roster is full of D2 talent. It’s sad he has failed coaching and recruiting offense this bad, but even more pathetic is the current team can’t defend either. Jevon and Sags are the only 2 talented top level players on roster. That’s not enough. Time for Bob to think about retiring. I think it may be good for he and WVU. He should then be working in the athletic department in some capacity.
