Yes. Not my favorite guy for football, but he's got to have some connections.

What we have here is a mistake. He would like to tell his side of the mistake after all the facts have been gathered.

Lots a narratives. Hugh's narrative, OM's rivals' narrative, the media's narrative. The truth is likely in the middle, so not in Hugh's narrative.

My guess is somebody has got a dirty little secret on HF and making him play along. OR. He is just really stupid.

If Freeze gets a suspension instead of a show cause, then the NCAA can throw out the "Head Football Coach is responsible for everything that happens".

Depends how long he is suspended! One game and the press will be all over them....

At this point I would be surprised if Hugh didn't get a show cause.

Jim Tressel received a 5 year show cause for lying to the NCAA about his players selling OSU memorabilia in exchange for tatoos. The NCAA determined he had 4 different chances to tell the truth, and failed to do so.

Think Freeze has had chances to tell the truth regarding this stuff at Ole Miss. The Beaver is going down. It is just a matter of time.

Has a college head football coach ever been suspended by the NCAA for recruiting or other violations AND been retained by the school?

UM should be vilified if they keep a head coach penalized like that by the NCAA.

Giving a head coach a show cause is probably a very hard decision to make for the NCAA. This is a lesser punishment option that works in their favor. They get to act tougher by suspending a coach when previously he would have hid completely behind ignorance AND Freeze gets to keep his job by not having a show cause.

I don't like it but if true, it means they will get much more than their proposed self-imposed sanctions.

He's named in the NOA. He conducted an in-home with a booster present that I'm pretty sure is disassociated due to the investigation. That's all on him personally -- before we even consider his culpability into the actions of his assistants...

Landmark case for the NCAA either way.

My memory is not that sharp anymore but didn't Bucky have catered dinners at his house with recruits and their families?

Absolutely. They have to know that the rest of the coaches and ADs will be following their enforcement of the new rules very closely.

I would bet that if there is any way possible to keep Freeze and any assistants they will. They just want to get through this and start things back up where they left off.

I'm pretty sure that's allowed. Saban does that **** all the time and doesn't GAF who sees the pictures. It's the "paying those parent's light bill" that's not allowed.

It's lucky for us the suspensions didn't occur in the Memphis or Arkansas games last year, or Ole Miss would've been in the playoffs.
