Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

DeSantis has everything under control and any intervention by Biden would screw up the works.

Here is what Florida and DeSantis have already done as of this morning. Activated and set up centers for search and rescue teams. Florida Department of Emergency Management (FDEM) coordinates this and have already started with game plans for
  • Various teams have been activated to alleviate road damages, health access, and evacuation congestion across the state
  • 5,000 Florida Guardsmen have been called to State Active Duty to assist in response actions. 2,000 additional Guardsmen from Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina have been called to reinforce
  • 2 million meals have been prepared for distribution if needed.
  • 1 million gallons of water are ready for distribution
  • 25,000 utility workers are ready to be dispatched immediately
  • In anticipation of road blockage, 5 highly trained Route Clearance Teams are ready to go.
  • The Office of Insurance Regulation has issued an advisory for permissible early prescription refills under the State of Emergency. This notice will provide Floridians who rely on drugs more convenient access to refills and pharmacy services during the storm.
  • 300 ambulances, paratransit busses, and support vehicles are being deployed in areas of anticipated damage.
  • To assist in evacuation efforts, road tolls have been suspended in various areas of expected impact.
Florida is ready and can handle matters without the Federal Government messing with us. It is under control and has been.

The equipment is in place and FWC is ready.

Fortunately President Biden has been in contact with the mayors of the potential cities affected and let them know support is a phone call away.

I've found it usually works out well when someone lets politics get in the way of rational thought and shuns federal aid and additional help from coming to a state that's going to need it. Hurricane is barreling down on Florida and Sawnee believes DeSantis is a one man wrecking crew who is going to tell the federal govt. to stay out as if Florida is a separate country. Always untrusting until your state actually needs help from the rest of us. EKY was the same way with the floods.

I'll take bets it absolutely will not hit Tampa with the eye of it as a CAT4. Irma hit as a 2-3 and we stayed with the exes folks who live on the ocean and were told to prepare for 6-8 foot storm surge. We slept like babes dry as cotton in the living room that night and the water barely came up. I'll believe it when I see it, but you all should definitely trust the sources that just make money off you being like loooooooook oooommmmmgggggg they're all going to die!!!!!!!

Actually DeSantis doesn’t need Brandon’s help, he’s got the plan aftermath and response already prior to landfall.
You lost when you compared the two governors in this sense and you lost badly. But hey, you can still get that Covid booster 🍺

The first raindrop hasn't fallen on the Florida coast, but I see our resident libs are already preparing to throw Desantis under the bus for any inconvenience someone might suffer from Ian.

We all know you are secretly hoping for a Katrina-type natural disaster.
Actually the Keys started getting hit yesterday evening but your point remains true.

So DeSantis won't need federal help/aid after the hurricane and will refuse it because that's want some old, angry dudes on here want? Gotcha. Really glad you guys aren't playing the part of Governor. If Trump was in office you'd accept his help, if Biden offers you wouldn't. Seems like the smart play.

If a tornado destroyed my neighborhood or my city, the last thing I'd say is, "bah, keep that Republican President out of here! And he can take his federal aid with him!" That's foolish, but par for the course here. This isn't DeSantis' first hurricane rodeo, but he will not refuse the help of the federal govt. and next week Biden will visit the state, as every other President does. You guys will whine about it, but again, par for the course.

You and Ed have made this thread political. OP was stating concern and you cannot help yourselves. Again, sad.

He responded to Ed making it political.
Completely fair. Don't think in a potential bad weather situation it's needed from either side. My point still stands though. Glad DeSantis has a detailed plan in place, but a responsible governor isn't going to tell the federal govt. to stay out. Florida will get what it needs and Biden and DeSantis will act like adults and work together. If Trump were President, both he and Beshear would have acted like adults and worked together during the weather disasters in KY as well. They can all act like children, but when there's a bad situation, both sides will usually work together as if they're actual real life adults.

Not saying that, Brandon can’t count to ten. DeSantis will use whatever funds to build back Florida 😂🍺

Guess what state sent help when Eastern Kentucky had the disastrous floods. Florida. Help came all the way up from Florida. I don't know if your governor thanked us but DeSantis did not do it to seek praise. Kentucky needed help and Florida had the resources to help. So help it was.

Florida learned many years ago to be prepared and not depend on the Feds. Too much red tape and hoops to jump through. Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee have already contacted Gov DeSantis and will provide help as needed and requested. We may not need it but if we do it is there for the asking. Fortunately Florida is a very wealthy state and prepares for disasters in advance. We have to because hurricanes are common and expected.

Joe Biden showed Florida what he thought of us by refusing to talk to our governor. He picked three very liberal mayors and called them. No problem, they need help but it is doubtful Joe remembers their names by 5:00 o'clock this afternoon.

Natural disasters usually become political. Why do you think Presidents show up and get in the way of massive cleanup efforts. They want to act as if they are concerned. Biden has shown for three years Florida can go to hell as much as he cares and we know that. He dumps 75 planes full of illegals on us without prior knowledge. They land in the middle of the night and are dumped. He has filed one Federal Lawsuits after another against Florida. He will file many more.

So now we have a little issue brewing in the Gulf of Mexico but we have been here many, many times. We will make it because we are ready.

This is usually when I like to bring up the "How's all that cold weather up there?!" type posts I get in the winter months.

It's what a leader does. Biden doesn't even know there's a hurricane threat. Nobody needs his help.

Fair enough I guess. Don't know where you live in Florida, but I hope you stay safe. If a hurricane was on a path towards my state, I wouldn't find it too productive to argue about the current POTUS or illegals on the internet. I'd be checking up on my loved ones and making sure my family is prepared just in case. I'm glad you have faith in DeSantis and I'm sure everything will be fine. I enjoy mixing it up occasionally here politically, but some (you included) seem to live that life. I find it absolutely bizarre to hate states for political reasons or idol worship politicians as if they're saviors. But you're older than me by a wide margin, so if that's the thing you enjoy in retirement or whatever, go for it and like I said, stay safe over the coming days.

We don’t worship our governors, we just know they have an actual plan before and after based on the strike zone and can move it east west north south. Louisiana dem gov was forced into it, Florida no problem 🍺
