The idea of bringing in a SR QB and paying him money to sit the bench seems foolish. But selling out for it, even if it’s not there is foolish to. Minchey would have been an investment, worth developing which would have been ok to sit.
Benching Coleandrea makes them look like clowns, as if they already don’t.

Plus the staff was so frustrated with TJ and Dylan’s inability to get the ball out early they are excited to have someone that does. It’s the classic rebound. Hated your ex had small boobs, your next girlfriend is going to have bigger ones even if that means you’ll give up a little in looks.

Will Coleandrea be a turnover machine? History says yes. Hopeful he won’t be

.500 qb and a .500 coach. Doesn’t seem like a winning combo, but we shall see I guess

It would be great if our clueless lapdog media had access to actual programs’s camps when putting stuff like this out there

Is this accurate - They have not had access to the camp?? If not, this is pure propaganda from coaches "leaking it." Pathetic if true. I didn't listen, but sure hope it's not "What I'm hearing is....." Good grief.

Okay.. so LB. Dang this group has disappointed me so badly. Every year I look at the recruits and see a breakthrough coming (just like OL). We have recruited a few dudes and yet..... I know I know, it is the DL's fault.

Dvoracek is probably the most overrated coach in my mind (Barthel just sucks at recruiting and other coaches have been worse than Dvoracek - but he is considered a quality coach and I've seen VERY little that shows me this.). I hope he proves me wrong this season - it's a do-or-die for him like it is Rhule IMO.

They got a 20 min session last week, I believe that's been the only media access this spring.
So their opinion is based on 20 minutes that they observed plus reading between the lines on quotes that have been made at press conferences.

Right you are. Spot on. You think recruits, and portal players do not notice the lack of players we send to the NFL combine, or have drafted? You think other schools do not use this against us? Just look at what happened to Key and Spindler. Both were 2nd to early 3rd round guys in the mock drafts last Sept-Oct. Now they are off the radar completely. NU is where NFL carriers go to die now. All this leads back to what I have been saying, that we need to take a long hard look at our S & C program. Better position coaches, which I think we now have, will also help. Unless and until we get better, WAY BETTER at player development this is where we will be. Just spending NIL funds, hoping to buy a team is not sustainable here. We do not have a Cuban, Phil Knight, or rich oil men to dump loads of cash on us.

I keep thinking maybe Matt can catch whatever mojo Fred got and pull an 8 win year out of his ***. I hope he can. I'm not betting on it, but who knows, even a stopped clock is right 2 times each day.

The two coaches aren't anything alike. And pause for a second to realize what you are saying ... you are hoping that Rhule can catch mojo in order to get to grand total of 8 wins.

Nebraska was never successful doing what 'everyone else did'.. it seems we have only been successful when we do something unique to get an edge. I want to see running back u again, but whatever the heck it is, someone needs a vision and ability to start stacking up a few edges here.

I'm hopeful we see a bit of that edge with Colandrea this year.

Coleandra seems to be a true dual threat QB. He could be an exciting player. He is also, however, prone to turnovers. Hard to believe that will magically change in his senior year. My thinking therefore is that he will both thrill us and kill us this year. And given our pathetic running back room and our sad lack of talent on the defensive line, I expect this to be a rinse, cycle, and repeat failure of a season.

I agree with you our talent is pretty bad. Rhule is a very poor evaluator of talent. But coming out of high school a few of these 4-stars guys we won't the recruiting battle should be decent or better. And they aren't. So we agree, but geez, if we could develop kids the answer might be different.

agree about the turnovers.. hope that doesn't become a big issue, but the fan base has lived with a lot of turnovers before.. when we were successful, we were also very turnover prone.. I'm expecting something similar to Taylor Martinez.

8 wins with this years schedule would be a good year. Yes my expectations are low historically for the program but IMO that is where we are at. Ruhle better catch something fast to avoid the trainwreck that this year's schedule might dole out.

Ummm. Devaney did what everybody else did and it worked. He just did it better. The new and unique offense of that day was OU’s wishbone. Even Tom took a number of years to morph our limited option game in to what he did in the 90s. A lot of what Tom did early on was WCO based with I formation option sprinkled in.

8 wins with our schedule would be a very good year. I don’t see it happening. I’m guessing it’s a 6 win season.
