With the following schools. This will help settle an argument.

(A) Ole Miss -- I am on the fence here, but I am saying no.
(B) Auburn --I said no
(C) LSU -- I said yes

LSU - Definitely yes. Miles>Mullen, Manieri>Cohen, Johnson = Stansbury
OM - Probably yes. Nutt>Mullen (as of right now, it's a big leap to think that Mullen has the potential to be a better coach than Nutt). Stansbury>Kennedy (although it's fairly close). Bianco>Cohen (This could turn around, but right now neither have been to a CWS, but Bianco has been to and hosted several Supers).
AUBURN - No. Mullen>Chizik, Stansbury >> Lebo, Cohen, Pawlowski is a push.

My bad, Maroon Eagle.

Orgeron had something like 3 NCs I believe. You could probably get him for about $900K. That would be better than 2 NCs at $1.2M, right?

Point being, national championships as an assistant are MUCH less impressive and much less of a qualification than actually winning football games as a head coach.

If I had 3.4M to spend on a coach, it wouldn't be Houston Nutt.
But this debate is really pointless right now. Perhaps in two years I'll have to change my mind.

Other than failing miserably as coaches in the Mississippi University system? They didn't have a lick of meaningful input on game day planning on any of those championship teams.

Nutt is better than Mullen, but Mullen has not had a chance yet. He could be the next Saban or the next Ogre.

Stansbury is better than Kennedy.

Bianco is ahead of Cohen, but Cohen is finally somewhere he has a chance at sustained success.

Nutt made about $1.7M this past year, and he's going to make about $2.5M this year. I don't know where you got the $3.4M number from.

Right now I would easily take Nutt over Mullen, however I have a feeling that in a couple of years my opinion will be just the opposite after Nutt has to recruit his own players and Mullen has a chance to get his in there. Kennedy and Bianco....no damn way. Bianco would not be doing any better than Cohen is doing and his UK record speaks for itself and Kennedy still has yet to see an NCAA tournament game without a ticket.
LSU.....I am not sold on Les Miles and have no idea how he lost as many games as he did last season. Johnson is no better than Stansbury at the moment. Manieri is a really good coach but again I think Cohen is getting all he can out of our team so it is really hard to judge.
Auburn......wouldn't take a damn one of them from the Plains.</p>

since you included salaries in the criteria for reaching a decision.

We can't afford LSU's coaching staff, period. So, you have to say no to LSU. It's like if someone offered me the opportunity to switch houses with [insert random millionaire in Starkville]. Even if his house is clearly better, I just simply couldn't afford the payment, so I would have to say no.

Edited to actually answer your question:

Would anybody trade ours for Auburn's?

I wouldn't trade with Ole Miss, but it's close and I could see someone going the other way. I also don't think a single OM fan would or should want to trade with us. I just like our youthful and energetic athletic department right now, and I want to see where it goes.

prior to this past season. And only once when being ranked preseason. And two of those were his first two years at Arkansas.

has him pretty much equal with Andy Kennedy?

Riiiiight.

Edit: You have Stansbury>AK (but it's fairly close) - Fairly close, as in 6 Tourney appearances to 0 Tourney appearances? Multiple SECW Championships, an overall SECC and multiple SECT Championships compared to 0 Championships?? Nevermind, I see your point now. You're right. They are most certainly 'fairly close'.

Orgeron got his NCs as a DEFENSIVE LINE COACH! Not quite the same thing, but what do I know...
