Hypothetically, if Cord makes it to campus, how could he not play baseball?

This guy is a top 5 round talent. I don't see how Cohen could sleep at night knowing that he is on campus and not playing baseball, especially with Renfroe being gone.

There's been some talk of him playing both. It's certainly a possibility.

I'd think that QB is the one position I wouldn't want playing another sport

That said, Russell Wilson made it work.

If I was cord, I wouldn't come if I couldn't play both. Why limit your chance to play pro football when he probably has a better chance of making mlb?

If I were Dan I would let him play baseball regardless.

Imagine the recruiting angle given how few programs allow multi-sport athletes.

If I was Cord, that would be my thinking too. He's got a better shot at making a living in baseball than in football, but it would be pretty damn tough to try to play QB in the SEC and play baseball too. Personally, since I'm more of a baseball guy anyway, I wouldn't mind him playing baseball exclusively, but I know that's not likely since he'll be on football scholarship should he make it to campus.

If Prescott stays healthy and continues to develop, I doubt Cord is our starting QB until his RS Junior year. He would play a little after Russell leaves, but I doubt he starts.

So you're looking at potentially three years where Cohen would probably need him more than Mullen. He might be an All-SEC baseball player before he starts a game for us at QB.

Yep. Cord should slip right into rf. Hopefully cord noticed how high hunter was drafted.

he's been quoted several times

that he talks to both Cohen and Mullen and the option is still there, but he feels like to be an elite SEC QB he can't play baseball too.

That being said, it definitely makes sense for him to do both until he actually has a legit opportunity to start.. unless he is just that damn good of a QB

Is he really that good?

I've never seen him play anything, so I honestly don't know. I do know it takes a very special athlete to excel in two sports in the SEC, especially if you are a QB. If his MLB draft stock is already pretty high, why even risk it by playing football?

Either this whole thing is just a bunch of talk and he fully intends to go pro now or he doesn't realize how much of a grind it will be, and he will end up picking one sport at State after a year.

I think it's obviously going to come down to how much coin he is offered. Even a later round pick could negotiate a deal well over a million. On of the Bears DBs was drafted in the 6th or 7th round and turned down over a million to go to OM. He tried to play both, but was mediocre, so he dropped baseball completely.

QB/Baseball Players
Kyle Parker - Clemson
Todd Helton - Tennessee
John Elway - Stanford

Those are just the ones that immediately come to mind. I'm sure there are others. It can be done.

Florida States QB is doing it right now, and apparently he is doing it at a very high level. It can be done, but it takes someone who is incredibly disciplined to pull it off. I hope he plays both, I think it would be great exposure for both of our teams if he was the starting QB and the best player on the Baseball team.
