I am talking about comparing McCrone with Nate and the statement that Nate is much better than McCrone. How do we come to that conclusion?
The same way I come to the conclusion that PJ is better than Jordan Williams. It is being proven now but I said it last Summer. Were you the guy arguing against that? I think Marcus Blaze is better than Lucas Bird too. I'm not Flo rankings. I have actual eyes and can watch wrestling. Nate is a much better athlete being coached by much better coaches.

PS - by February 60% of our team may be ranked #1. Try going through these exercises from the perspective of a tOSU fan who has lived through the past decade of soul draining matches with PSU. They are just going to be hoping it isn't a 8-2 embarrassment.
Which if it is 8-2, that means they held serve and had a decent night.

Wreck? 19-18 with a last second turn by Bo and an upset at 197.

The Buckeyes are for real, and they definitely have a path to victory.

We are favored at 149, 165, 174, and 197. They get the nod at 141 and 285. With bonus possibilities at 165 and 197, they will likely have to win all 4 toss-ups, but they at least have a puncher's chance.

As for TanTom sitting some of his starters ... not a chance ... this is his Super Bowl.
Right, though IIRC they had an upset in the lighter weights, and someone, I think Nolf, was out with an injury.

I thought 141 was one we absolutely needed to have. I don't think Lee was a "favorite" per se over McKenna but he had looked good that year and McKenna just got majored by Thorn (who Nick majored) but stylistically. However that always felt like a very bad matchup since McKenna is a savvy vet who could ride and Nick was a true freshman who wrestled with reckless abandonment at times (kind of funny since Nick became known as one of the most technically and fundamentally sound wrestlers later)

They lost with what many called the best dual team ever after a 10 point swing due to Nolf being out at 157.

Yeah, wrecked.

Thanks for the clarification!

… and come to think of it, the other thing that could have broken our way was if our newly minted transfer 125 had thrown NaTo to his back in bounds, or half in bounds in the corner of the mat, instead of the short side where his feet went into the Blaise Alexander sign and was called OOB!

Or if the matside table had been sufficiently away from the mat. Kuhn's feet were still in bounds when Tomasello's feet went thru the sign.

I don’t know. You replied to my “regression” quote. I guess I’m not sure yet about Nate, but I’m pretty sure I don’t respect McCrone’s game.

I certainly haven’t seen McCrone move forward the last 2 years (so maybe “regressed” was incorrectly applied). I’ll chalk it up to my own senility and deep-seated hatred of everything in and closely-surrounding Columbus, OH.

I never want to try going through that from anOSU fan’s perspective and I want to stomp them and toss them in the compost pile every time we face them. We have to put up with constantly underperforming on the football field against them, so I hope every dual is a blowout.

An underrated part of Cael's coaching (when he feels like doing it) is he is very good at getting guys a good game plan when it's obvious they'll be overmatched.

You can tell Kuhn had a headlock planned sometime for that match, he would have gotten 4NF or the pin (and Rec Hall burns down basically) if it wasn't for the scorers table.

Nevills you could also tell shocked Snyder by taking the first shot, which he didn't remotely expect. Snyder basically needed to win by 12-13 points (with 2 point takedowns) and a 2-1 deficit to open things made it virtually impossible, so he tried a throw and gave up yet another TD, sealing it for good basically.

Similar was sending Marco Vespa against Spencer Lee. Vespa I'm pretty sure never won a match against a D1 opponent at PSU but he might be the tallest 125 ever and you could tell he spent a week just practicing a one shot cradle and if it didn't work, it would be able impossible to pin him in a tilt just due to his height difference.

They are envious of our success in wrestling, as we are of theirs in football!

…and we are each jealous of our own!

or Ono gets homesick but sticks around long enough to take Mendez to the woodshed as a farewell to Happy Valley.
We can't expect Ono to move up that much and be as dominant. If i recall he didn't take Spencer down, all his pints were on push outs. Mendez is significantly bigger than Lee

All you had to say was, “I’m an Ohio State fan.” Sorry about your luck. By the way, there are a lot of State schools in Ohio, no “THE.”
I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume your mind told you that was going be funny before you posted it.

Don’t give up.. it’s a numbers game. Sooner or later you will think of something actually funny.

He isn't much smaller than Mendez. He is a 61kg guy. He walks around in the mid 140s I would guess. He teched Vito who is long and fast. He was sucked down and low energy against Spencer. I would sure like to see it but it won't happen anyway. He wants to be a 57kg guy but that isn't what his body wants him to be. I think constantly making 133 will be hard for him too. 141 will be a really good weight for him.

I tend to agree that this will be a match where people will be more on the edge of their seat than they think they will

There was nothing intended to be funny about it. Thanks for trying to be acerbic, biting, and sarcastic with a passive aggressiveness that reeks of a soft town like Columbus. I’m an Ohio native and anOSU is an overrated school renowned for nothing. The only reason Columbus exists as capital is because it’s in the geographical center of the state, You worship a bespectacled douchebag hobbit of a former coach, so that speaks volumes about your fandom.

We can go all day if you’d like, or I can meet you under a bridge in Youngstown or Lima or Akron (you know, a real town that, unlike Columbus, made things).

***** By the way, that last part is a running joke on this forum so don’t get your lace panties knotted.

Finally. Everybody keeps saying 125 133. He wrestles 57kg a couple times a year he had medical problems seeming to stem from weight loss. He is huge for 125 133, his frame is bigger than blaze. Honestly he looks bigger than spencer and spencer is a large 125/57kg guy.

I think you are underestimating Luke. Luke didn't become a three time world champ because he had such a tough time adjusting to strong opponents. The teammate Luke lost too is significantly better than the one Nick lost against. Luke beat Ramos twice last year who was far more dangerous and skilled than Bouzakis. Throw in the epic tOSU meltdown at the mere thought of a dual against PSU and you have the perfect recipe for a lack luster tOSU performance. Ryan is probably already making his excuse speech. The dual will be a massacre and all the hype in the world won't prevent what even the buckeye wrestlers know is going to happen. "Same old buckeyes-same old lions" some names have changed but the excuses by Tom Ryan are ageless.
Luke would definitely be smart to wrestle as much as possible on his feet against him. Must finish clean and stay out of scrambles….

Davino vs Blaze is going to be one of the best matches of the year.
I agree that it will be a great match but I think Blaze is just a horrible matchup for Davino. He is usually a high volume attacker and that just feeds right into what Blaze does best. I might be underestimating Davino but I’ll be absolutely shocked if he wins. I see it going very much like the last few times they have wrestled where Davino has trouble getting to Blazes legs and Marcus gets a Td or 2. Score 7-3

I'll take Blaze, too, but that's one of them I have circled on the calendar. Davino has looked like the real deal, too.

My thought as well. Luke needs to score TDs and cut Bouzakis. Don't give Bouzakis a chance to score a reversal and don't let a reversal spiral out of control into a pin. If he scores a first period TD and doesn't give up a reversal during the match, I think he wins.

The McCrone pin last year was... not a good game plan by Luke. McCrone's only possible way to win that match was a pin. Just belly out, take a stall call or two or three and get out of the 2nd period with a 6-3 or 6-4 lead. Score more from neutral in the 3rd. The end.

Bouzakis is very dangerous. Luke needs to stay technically sound, and he wins pretty easily. But if he gets careless ...
