Hey. Teenagers are unbelievably hard to deal with. I had some choice words for mine during those years. It wasn’t abuse. It was a threat! They turned out nicely
Sounds like he was parenting a spoiled rich brat.
I would doubt very seriously it would get to this point if this was just yelling at your kid. Maybe I’m wrong but it would seem unlikely to me.
Sad. It must suck to have him for a father.
That can extend beyond simply yelling. It can include the things he’s saying. It says in the article he’s been accused of making threats and making the kids feel unsafe.
Just a generational thing kid. I loved and respected the hell out of my father. I also feared him
Yelling can make these soft kids feel threatened.
Guys, we all yell at our kids. We were all yelled at. There is a line where you have gone beyond yelling. Did he cross it? I have no F’n clue

There’s already a tendency there to consider themselves unwelcome. Add a father with documented temper issues to that, it makes sense to want to not be around him if that’s an in-play scenario…

His kid is also likely a spoiled brat and deserved “verbal abuse”.
Eh. I threw it out as a possibility responding to a post centered on the kid.
Occam’s Razor though is O’Sullivan’s temper.
Many kids with a crappy parent wouldn’t want to be forced to be with a parent who treats them like crap.
I know folks who when they became adults decided not to have anything to do — including communication — with their mothers and fathers for that reason.

I know it’s a favorite SPS past time to crap on the next generation or call them “soft”, but the fact is we don’t know what happened. We don’t know anything about O’Sullivan’s home life or his kids.
We have, however, seen how O’Sullivan treats other people in public.
