If players are fighting, I can’t accept what is going on. He isn’t just losing control of this team, he is losing control of the whole program. We dealt with this crap from Gillespie and it landed him with an early exit from Kentucky.

It’s November and five games into the season. That was embarrassing tonight and so was the Louisville trashing, but I’m remaining optimistic that we get Quaintance and Lowe in the lineup and have a good season.
Five games in and seen zero improvement on the defensive end and the offense has fallen off a cliff. No idea what has you hopeful but I’d sure love some

I think a lot of us are trying really hard to not overreact to what we've seen so far, especially since everyone loves Mark Pope and what he means to this program. I have to be honest though, I don't see any positives at the moment. Really hope that changes soon.

This seems like the opposite of what's happening.

Very few are "trying really hard not to overreact." The vast majority are understandably frustrated and overreacting, as should be expected.

In a way, that's what this place is. A way for people to scream into the void. Ain't nothing wrong with that.

I was never sold on Pope. I’ll admit that. I don’t consider myself a hater, however. For every great win last year there was baffling loss so it felt like my opinions of Pope remained the same: reluctant.

To add to what I said before, even if this year is crap he gets another year to turn things around… HOWEVER, I’m not sure anymore. You can’t have rumors of fighting among themselves, you can’t show that frustration in front of fans. To me that is an institutional problem, exactly how Billy Gillespie was let go in year 2 instead of being given an extra year. If Pope has lost control of his team beyond just simple disagreements you can’t afford to keep him around for another year. You have to consider the program and the university’s reputation as well

The game is played in the real world. Unfortunately, you are living in fantasy land!

Team chemistry is tanked all to hell.
If this team had the bond of the first year team with lamont and them we wouldn't have this issue..
In today's landscape the monkeys run the Zoo it's the same issue with NBA. You're not gonna get on your multi million dollar superstars *** (what oweh is supposed to be) like you need to because he will just pull the plug or have some odd.injury and you've already give him his money.
the issue is you'll put alot of agents and stuff off when trying to do anything remotely similar. Popes already a bad recruiter, he pisses off agents and it's really over. All this compounds into the mess you see today. Pope wants to rip someone's head off but he can't because the way it is now or at least that's how I feel ..

This is not an X and O problem.

This is not a Moe and Joe problem.

This is not a money problem.

This is a failure of leadership problem.

From the top down. It is just unacceptable for a UK team to just not compete.

I always go back to Pitino’s first year. Completely over matched in every game.

Got blown out by Kansas in record fashion but never stopped playing.

That team went 14-14 and UK fans loved them.

This is not that.

Mark Pope can coach at this level. I’ve seen it in his short time here. Kentucky had a bad showing tonight and I am concerned that there may be problems with this roster.
It’s up to Coach Pope to fix whatever is wrong with this group’s chemistry. I’m still hopeful we see good things from this team.

It’s most definitely still X and O problem. Kelvin Sampson would have opposing coaches breathing through a straw if he had a roster like this

He has potentially lost institutional control of the program if players are fighting. You don’t come back from that. Another year isn’t going to change anything. It happened with Gillespie and even ole Mitch couldn’t muster up giving him another year.

He gets this season.. let's pray this is really just a couple of bad teammates dragging things down, along with injuries to start. Thats something we cant forget. Still have our PG injured, still dont have JQ, who i think was originally thought of as a guy who might have been ready to start the season, per early reports.

I said it in another thread, but one of Pope’s biggest failures since being here was putting a lot of faith (and probably money) into Oweh and BG being major cogs of this year’s team. It’s like Pope got hypnotized by Oweh’s pre-season hype (when anyone who watched him last year knew he was NEVER going to be the go-to guy of any successful team) and somehow thought BG would be a big contributor as the starting center.

Pope seems like a super smart guy, but a lot of us Benny’s could have told him that Oweh can’t be your go-to guy and that BG will never be a starting SEC center.

WTH else we supposed to do?
I’m sorry but I don’t see how you can say anything positive about what we just witnessed. Horrible!!!
Horrible coaching first of all. Horrible team chemistry. You can say whatever you want but if Pope really understands the assignment he should be questioning himself right now. Awful fn awful!

Bro if Oweh was simply playing like last year’s Oweh it would help. I have no idea what happened to that guy. If you told me he shared a basketball with the Mon-Stars and they took his talent to their home planet, I wouldn’t disbelieve it

I want Pope to succeed so bad. It would the perfect story. I don't think he's soft as a man, but he's got to start tearing some *** apart NOW. He seemed pissed in the post game presser and his voice seemed a little hoarse, so I'm hoping we can look back at this game as the turning point. Maybe I'm just coping though 😢

What I mean by that is that they are not being led to X and O play. Not that they couldn’t be.

There’s not one problem that could be addressed and things will work out.

Those are symptoms of the overall problem.

Sorry bro, so depressed I can’t think straight

The first real red flags for me was that Pope was not a good recruiter at BYU. Everyone said that at a place like Kentucky he would absolutely crush it because of our budget. But then he struck out on Wilson, Lanier, Wilkerson, Dent, Yaxel, Silas D, Ament, Peterson, Brown, Lewis, Rippey, etc.

He's not a good recruiter. That's a problem when you have 22 million to work with.

I just dont get how he could be bad at it. But maybe its true.

Hes a players-first type of coach, runs a pro offense, played at every level of the game.. and we have NIL to throw around. Just surprising to me I guess.
