I just posted this before reading the comments
Not trying to toy with the OP, and I get his point, but Calipari made next to impossible for Pope (or whoever) to have a very long leash.I still like Pope, but this team has some really bad chemistry. Last year's team is one of my top 5-10 favorites and I've been a fan for 50 years.
LOL at some of the stuff I'm reading. For all that recruiting, he couldn't even get out of the 1st round. Pope wildly exceeded expectations in year one and it's November of year two with 2 key injuries and a lame Oweh coming back from injury as well. Sickening that people just turn the table and chairs over at the first sign on adversity. I guess they hang out under their bed everyday.
I get the point, but those guys were actually heroes given the circumstances.
Last year's team had shooters who were basketball players, but not great athletes. This year's team has athletes, but not many shooters.
I agree. I don't think he can coach the defensive end AT ALL. They play soft and get outrebounded by anyone with a pulse. Goes back to Louisville. Drop covering ball screens and DHO actions and then also going UNDER the screener. Both are soft coverages. I need Chris Beard to kill it this year and next at Ole Miss. That should be enough time to end this little experiment.

Boy...even a few weeks ago I got a lot of pushback for saying the exact same thing. But if you know anything about basketball, you know that's the case.
JQ maybe not now. But I dont see why Lowe cant come back, if the shoulder isnt serious.
And if it is serious, then we sort of have to apply SOME of our troubles to simple injury woes, yet again.
Because he's a big goofy dorky white Mormon dude trying to recruit...well, dudes that are anything but that.
Lowe's shoulder is going to continue to be an issue until surgery. The tendons and muscles around the joint are "stretched" and "loose". You can rest and strengthen over a few weeks and try again, and then it happens again. Surgery is the only thing that stops that cycle.
No, he doesn't get to play the injury card this year. He signed JQ and kept Garrison without going to get others. Then he stood behind the 6 month BS on JQ's ACL recovery. Pope chose all of that rather than to go get players that are ready from day one. Lowe helps the offense, but he's the worst perimeter defender on the team. He's not that much of a game changer.
You don't get to count JQ dude. Pope knew where he was when he signed him. Pope can't sign a guy that he knows won't be available until January at best, and then say not having him in Nov/Dec is a problem. Doesn't work that way.
Keep working that Oweh injury card. It certainly can't be because he's overexposed and can't live up to the hype. There's a reason he wasn't going to get drafted last year and doesn't show up on any mocks this year. He doesn't suck, but he's not great either. And he's not a great fit for this year team like he was last years.

We’re hitting our bumps early this season while some teams are coming out of the gates hot.

I'm afraid our coach is already to kind and encouraging, that's not working right now. Time to coach like Izzo, be stern with a little mean mixed in, and players will play hard, respect, and love the coach. I'm afraid Money has created to many head games for a lot of players.Just have to be even more kind and encouraging!
And that’s part of the problem. After playing with little fight, I’d have rather Pope come out there like a loose cannon in a press conference rather than look like his cat drowned in a lake. Show me some ******* balls and act like you’re not gonna put up with this anymore
If you believe, Lowe is coming back this season, then that is your issue. I feel that right now, its about 95% that he doesn't come back after surgery, no matter what.
