Lisle 38, Dwight 14...Lions roar...expected a bigger spread, but old conference foes...

Coal City 37, Wheaton Academy 0...did not predict a shutout here, but Coaler defense has been nasty all year...actually a bigger margin than IC (48-13) and Mac (48-21) had against the Warriors...

Good luck to Wilmington, Herscher & Plano tomorrow...

Coalers offense finally matching their defense 2 games in a row. Thought it would be a much closer game but CC defense suffocated Wheaton's offense. They play like this they could make a run

Congrats to the Lisle Lions on their win. Good luck to Herscher, Wilmington and Plano today

The irrelevant I-8 note of the weekend may well be that the worst team in the I-8 Small, 2-7 Reed Custer, hammered a team 46-12 week 2 which has qualified for the second round of the 5A playoffs, Chicago Brooks...

Richmond-Burton 42, Plano 0...Reapers harvest is over...

Half...Wilmington 3, Monmouth 0...Cats dominating time of possession, stuffed 4th & goal inside the 1 with a minute left in half...Cats receive to start 2nd half...Monmouth 21 yards total offense in first half...Wilmo 176 yards in half...Monmouth line is huge...

Monmouth marches down field, catches pass inside five, fumbles at 1 out of end zone, Wildcats ball...Wildcat Dempsay run for 9 yards, then Hafner 71 yard TD run...10-0, just under 6 min in 3rd

Wildcats pooch punt after almost 10 minute drive....Monmouth about 10 yard line...Monmouth 90 yard TD pass on 2nd down...14-10 Monmouth...less than 2 minutes...

True statement, but their schedule was a joke and their first round playoff game was against another CPL team. I’m going to set the line at Sterling -42 for round 2.

Happy to see some I8 teams advance. Unfortunate Wilmington couldn't. Sounds like they had more yards just couldn't punch it in the end zone

Coal City looked great. Tough Road ahead with 2 kishwauk teams in a row (more than likely). If they play at that level at home in the Semis could we see them at state? Possibly!

Herscher gets by dunbar but has an interesting matchup against Hall. I predict Hall wins. Wish Wilmo could have went to Hall, but..... so is life.

Lisle defeated Dwight easily but an intriguing matchup with North Boone. Hopefully they aren't looking ahead to Byron because NB is capable of wining that game.

Plano was overmatched. Great season. Thanks for the memories. Best of luck wherever you go.

Wilmo........My beloved WIlmatucky.....ehhhhh.....I predicted they could roll to the semis or they could bow out in week 1. What a frustrating team this year. The Mr. Hyde version showed up and Monmouth was a solid team. You can't have a bad week against a team like them. If they played ten times I think they split 50/50. Penalties killed them. And that last play the 90 yard pass stings. They had a very favorable bracket and hopefully next year they are lucky enough to have that again. Would have loved to see Byron at home again.

Looks like it's time to follow CC and see what they can do! Best of luck to the remaining three teams still alive!

Hats off to Wilmo and Plano on qualifying and having good seasons. After week 3 I wasn't sure if either would get in so kudos on finishing the regular season strong.

Think the Herscher game is a toss up. Give the slight edge to Hall since they are at home. Could go either way.

Lisle has a tough match up. North Boone has beaten two 4A qualifiers and Stillman Valley is still playing. But I like Lisles run to go one more week. They are good on turf at home.

I honestly thought the Wheaton game was going to be much closer than it was. CC defense was on point really limiting WA run and pass game. CC was very physical right of the bat and took them out of their element. This weekend is a different kind of opponent. Johnsburg is no stranger to meaningful playoff games and has a pretty quick offense and defense. CC has still not let up a point on the road this year but I think Johnsburg will break that streak. This will be a pretty tight game but I have to think CC is the favorite
