I almost **** myself on that last shot.

If they had that one left they could have called TO after the rebound and figured something out besides that prayer of a shot.

it would have made this game a historic classic of epic proportions for Butler to have won that way. Still a great game but if Butler had actually won on that shot this game would still be getting lots of airplay 20 years from now.

half court shot for the national championship in a huge upset win. I can't think of anything sweeter, except maybe a 3/4 or full court shot for the win.</p>

I would much rather be up 3 and make Butler inbound the ball than miss a FT and possibly lose on a 3 pointer.

I thought the same thing. Did they not see Florida-NC State earlier this year. They missed a FT up 2 and Parsons hit the 3/4 court shot for the win. I don't know that they missed it on purpose, but if you have a chance to hit the FT to guarantee OT is the worst case scenario, then I think you hit the FT.

The only time I see missing the FT on purpose is if it's the same scenario, 4 seconds or less, and you just hit a FT to go up 1. The difference between a 1 and 2 point lead at that point is negligible because your opponent will have to take a 3 pointer either way most likely. Other than that, I think you hit the FT.

That's the situation Michigan State had against UT. They hit the first to go up 1. Then they purposely missed the 2nd to force UT to either force a quick shot in the last 2 seconds or run a few tenths off before calling a timeout.
