I am a late starter but I am beginning to really hate Templeton.

<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">I always gave him a pass due to the fact that our football team got to the SEC championship, Our basketball team got to the final four and our baseball team made the college world series several times while he was here. But the more I look at Ole Miss Scheduling and some of the others through out the SEC; it really gives me the red ***. If we played Ole Miss Schedule this year we would have a minimum of eight wins. Yeah I bash them all the time for their scheduling but hell not any more. I am going to bash the SOB Templeton. This ESPN article inflames my *** even more. If you already read it I am sorry.

but it's hard to give him any credit for much of that happening.

football- Templeton didnt want to hire Sherrill and was over-ruled by Zacharias. Jackie hates Templeton with a passion for all the problems he had with him during his tenure and there is also no way LT pulls the plug on Crooms as early as Byrne did.

basketball- he basically hired Williams and Stansbury because they were cheap and he didnt have to do a real coaching search either time

baseball- not sure of his call on McMahon, but the idiot hired Polk again. Enough said

of Larry is beyond me. The man had an aura about him that was quite accountant like. No offense to accountants, I'm an I.T. guy.

And when Williams was hired, it wasn't so much that we didn't look elsewhere as it was that nobody would touch the MSU basketball job with a 10-foot pole. At the time, it was considered possibly the worst Div. I job in the country.

****, Duese at MRA was a candidate for the job at the time. Could you imagine an academy coach up for the job now? Williams and Stansbury have brought this program a long way since the late 80's

Just wanted to note that you wrote something good about Stansbury.1

________
1Yeah. I know you've done it before but it needed some recognition. Oh yeah, the bold font was done by me for emphasis-- but we all knew that anyway.

play in. They should play an extra non-con quality opponent because they know in advance they have a weak conference. Also, it only takes 6 wins to get to a bowl no 7. Our scheduling has been right on time lately but we do have Boise State, Texas twice, Fresno State twice, and Ga. Tech twice coming up.

He told Duane he had the job and then Portera stepped in and told him he had lost his mind and made him hire Stansbury.LT was so gutless that he had Wesley Reed call Reboul and tell him the job went to Stansbury. One thing is for sure,LT had no sense whatsoever about any coaches and the poster is correct about Sherrill. LT offered the job to Ray Perkins who then told him he would have to upgrade facilities and pay assistants more to get good people. LT refused and that is when Zacharias had no other choice to do anything other than hire Sherrill. Sherril meanwhile, had talked to Perkins and Rockey and they both told him without facilities and more money for assistants, he'd never compete. Jackie told them the same thing and Dr. Zacharias told him he'd get the money. LT is the single most detriment to MSU athletics in the last 30 years and had we had leadership like we have had since him, no telling where MSU would be today. The only sad part is he is still on campus occupying space and trying to sabotage any coach he can. Leo Seal should have never asked MSU to give him an office in the building Leo donated but Leo was naive about LT and unfortunately LT lied to him for years too.

But thats about it. Didnt he oversee the football and baseball expansions? Course that doesnt outweigh the bad that LT did by any means

LT also was pushing Bobby Wallace for the football job and that got shot down real quickly. The man was clueless on hiring coaches. I do agree with you about LT- at least you are right finally about one thing.

for being a cock-gazing geezer and all that jive,

But I have significant respect for your coming back strong with asummary of the cancer that was and continues to be Larry Templeton.

Good work sir!

Lets also not forget that LTlingering around like a fart thatwon't quite go away.......HAD to factor into Greg Byrne's decision to exit stage left.Closer tofamily, blah, blah, newchallenges, blah,blah,..... Had he gone to LSU or UGA or Oregon, sure, movin up in the world, but to simply leave so quickly with so many halfway completed projects, well it kind of stinks like a fart lingering in the air, or is that the smell ofstale scotch?

Now Templeton's apologists can jump on my comments, suggesting that I am stupid and that is fine. Have at it, but when you dish it out towardsOl' Lar, understand that others mighthave just as much right toidentifyCoach Stansbury's shortcomings and bring thoseup fordiscussion.

how many buildings have you paid for?
He hasn't bought a building, but he did pony up enough to pay for a urinal at Scott Field. He's hoping Brett Favre will use it this fall so he can sneak a peak.
