If you think all you have to do is throw a wad O' cash at someone and they will come then you have no idea how the real world works. Also, using Saban as an example of college coaches or people in general simply does not work. I would say that not that many people in this world would make a statement about having no interest in the Bama job shortly before taking the Bama job and leaving Miami in a bad spot.

It is always about the money. The question is how much? If you offer enough they will come. Do you really think Saban would be at Alabama if they only offered 2.8 million? Hell no it took almost 4 million a year to get his *** to Alabama.

Hell I guarantee if we had offered Petersen 10 million a year for 4 years his *** would have been in Starkville Friday. The bottom line is we just did not offer the right amount of money to get him to take the job.

Never say its not about the money when it comes to coaching.

is trust that Byrne sees a great deal of potential in a guy like Wilson, and makes the right hire. Yes, there are coordinators who don't work out as head coaches, but there are also plenty of assistants who move up the ladder well and become good head coaches. You can say the same thing about guys who are already head coaches and move on to bigger schools. Sometimes it doesn't work out, and sometimes it does...for a variety of reasons.

But, if Byrne talks with Wilson, and determines he's a good fit for State, and sees that his adjustment from an OC to HC isn't going to be a difficult transition, he's going to offer him the job... hell, his offensive numbers alone are worth consideration. If the guy's got what it takes to be the head man (and Byrne should know) then we should be fine. Don't get too caught up in specifications for the job. I guarantee our next head coach will be much more qualified for the job than an NFL running backs coach, and most of that will have to do with the man making the hire.

I wanted Tubs. And I wanted Petersen. But that ain't happening. Wilson isn't who I initially wanted, but his resume is quite impressive, and if Byrne thinks he'll do well here, I'm willing to trust his judgment and see what happens. Granted, it was a no brainer, but he already made one good hire this past spring, so just give this a chance. Wilson will be good for the recruits, he'll be good with the press and fanbase, and if he surrounds himself with quality assistants, should be good for getting us relevant again in the near future. That is, IF all this **** is true.

i think our finalist are Peterson, Wilson, Malzahn, and Bowden. I may be wrong but i just don't think Peterson would be a good fit here. He's never left the west coast and never recruited down here. SEC is a totally different ball game. And just think when he goes into Big Momma's house to recruit her boy and she wants to know what scientology is. If you think it doesn't matter look at our current commits. they all wanted to play for croom because of what kind of man he is. We damn sure know it wasn;t because of his coaching ability. So i say the other 3 would all be good choices.

1. Wilson- He has done an oustanding job at OU. Has recruiting connections and develops QBs. Stache has to go.
2. Bowden- Good recruiter. Connections all over the place and with his dad retiring soon, he might talk us up and send some recruits our way. I would really like to have tommy.
3. Malzahn- Offensive genius. Offense designed for a team that isn't blessed with players like FL, GA, TN. Hates Nutt. If you think he wouldn't bust his balls to out-recruit Nutt instate, you're crazy. He's a good recruiter, knows the South. He might actually be my number one. High energy.

Malzahn? MALZAHN? Are you F'N kidding me? Outside of Petersen and then [huge dropoff] Wilson, if that is Byrne's final 4, we're f'd like a singapore *****.

10 million is a lot of Jack and you know he would win there. What coach in his right mind would turn down 10 million a year. Who would turn down 10 million a year for something legal?

We're offering at least $2.5 million per. Maybe more from what I've heard. I "summit" that you are clueless.

Everyone has their price. Apprently 2.5 million was not his. Nonthing clueless about it. All I am saying is if we offered enough money to anyone they would come here. Just finding that number is the deal. Bottom Line.

The only place to shop is Walmart anyway. The most expensive thing to buy in Starkville is probably drinks at Bin 612. They give you a car. What the hell are you going to spend that extra two million dollars on?

Shmuley, if you don't think Malzahn is a good coach, then you don't know football. News flash, you have to recruit in the SEC, Peterson has no ties down here. you can't win in the SEC with a bunch of white boys like you can at Boise. I want a good FOOTBALL coach as much as anyone, but to think other SEC schools wouldnt exploit the scientology thing is ridiculous.
