If the guy comes in out of the pen with 2-0 count you already limit his effectiveness.

I like it in certain situations. Mentally weak batters will be mind17ed by it, especially if we switch hands on them.

I don't like it either, but it needed to happen there.

Yeah, I suppose in that situation it didn't really matter... either way - 2-0 count, or bases loaded - as a batter you know he's coming in to throw strikes.
But I think my point in general is, if you know 2-0 that the pitcher doesn't have it any more, you likely knew before the at bat started.

I love it when it works. It's like anything else "unconventional" in that it draws a crapload of negative attention when it doesn't work.
